Steinschild Citadel

The Steinschild Citadel was the first permanent building in the area that eventually became the city of Mankell. It was build to protect the entry point into Hammerfort, which had expanded from a small settlement to a small kingdom and started to attract the attention of other nations on the continent.

It was built in the year 1745 OnP as a purely defensive structure. It is composed of a platform in the form of a quarter circle, with arms on the sides and the middle on which towers stand that used to be barracks and artillery towers, but are now the headquarters of The Independent Order of Mages. Between the arms are two wide staircases that lead down to the ground level. For most of its history the platform was empty, leading directly into the Entry Hall of Hammerfort, but in the year 2894 OnP, the Statue of Vogrun Steinschild was built. A 1000ft likeness of the mythological founder and first king of Hammerfort, Vogrun Steinschild.
