The Matron Mothers concists of the Matron of each of the 8 houses that rule Menzoberranzan.

The Relationships of the Ruling Houses
Being the most powerful house in Menzoberranzan it is no surprise that House Baenre is connected to all the other ruling houses in one capacity or other. All ruling houses, except House Melarn, has declared allegiance to House Baenre however, this does not mean that they consider themselves allies. In fact, both House Faen Tlabbar and House Barrison Del'Armgo hates House Baenre, and the only reason House Do'Urden doesn't concider House Baenre an enemy, is because the Matron Dahlia Sin'fell has gone insane and is currently the (unknowing) prisoner, and surrounded by trusted allies, of House Baenre.
