Celestial Song
Purpose / Function
Originally constructed as a loom factory, Celestial Song has transformed into a towering economic and cultural powerhouse.
Now exceeding 2,000 feet in height, it houses a mix of industries:
- Tech Firms
- Financial Institutions
- Prestigious Accounting Offices
- Boutique Retail Shops
- Gourmet Restaurants
It serves as the heart of commerce in Serna and a symbol of the Principality of Kopolchia's modern era.
While its core function remains economic, it has also become a cultural and symbolic monument.
Design
The building is rectangular, stretching 180 feet wide and 150 feet deep.
Interior rooms vary by purpose. Open-concept layout dominate tech offices while old factory spaces now serve as multi-level atriums.
The walls are a combination of reinforced crystal-infused steel, smooth blackened stone and internal paneling made of recycled oceanwood and synthetic glass composites. Ceilings on lower levels are high and vault while upper floors boast panoramic glass domes or garden-laced skybridges.
Entries
The main entrance is a grand revolving glass door flanked by polished obsidian columns and guarded day and night. Emergency exits are hidden into the structural design, reinforced with spell-locks. VIP entries on upper levels are accessible via private lifts. Windows are warded and pressure-resistant, making break-ins nearly impossible. Some corporate suites have sealed sky-balconies.
Sensory & Appearance
Visitors stepping inside are greeted by cool, dry air tinged with a scent of sea salt and fresh flora from the vertical gardens. The polished floor gleam under Thalara tech lighting, and the lobby echoes with a constant low hum of conversation and distant elevators. Gentle instrumental music floats through the air. The building feels alive... its pulse dictated by commerce and innovation. The higher one goes, the quieter and more rarefied the atmosphere becomes.
Denizens
Day-to-day, the building is frequented by business professionals, government officials, investors, researchers, and service staff. However, rumors persist that The Shadowsong Order maintains an unseen presence on one of the restricted levels, particularly the forgotten subfloors from the building's industrial past. It is said that this is how they got in to plant the bombs the night of The Nightfall Massacre.
Contents & Furnishings
Celestial Song contains:
- Corporate offices filled with enchanted desks and crystal-powered data terminals
- Restaurants with terraces overlooking Serna
- Meeting chambers with floating projection globes
- A multi-tiered garden observatory
- Luxury spas and sky lounges
- Old unused factory machinery now encased in glass as a nod to its origins
- An internal rapid-lift system operated via arcane-infused keycards
Valuables
Each floor contains its own valuables: corporate trade secrets, rare economic documents, enchanted prototype tech, one-of-a-kind art installations, and a private museum on the 75th floor that preserves the original loom that started it all. There's also a vault rumored to hold artifacts found during the building's expansions into Serna's leyline.
Hazards & Traps
Some levels are restricted and protected with magickal barriers, arcane glyphs, and biometric systems. Unauthorized entry can result in alarms or defensive enchantments activating, ranging from nonlethal stasis fields to lethal arc-blasts. The old sublevels (sealed long ago) are said to hold remnants of failed experimental tech and twisted spirits left from the disappearance of the first loom master.
Special Properties
- Fully powered by a leyline-trapped arcane reactor
- Air filtration and water purification systems independent of city infrastructure
- Vertical gardens that regulate humidity and oxygen
- A defensive weather shield that activates in extreme conditions
- Anti-scrying wards on sensitive floors
- A rumored "Ghost Elevator" that appears only on nights of the twin moons' alignment, transporting passengers to a floor that doesn't exist on any map
Alterations
Numerous floors were added across centuries to accommodate growth. Technological and magical upgrades followed each expansion. Some abandoned floors remain sealed or rented only to those with high clearance. The constant additions eventually transformed the original industrial site into the tallest building on the continent and later, the world. A skyway was once proposed too connect Celestial Song to a neighboring tower, but the project was mysteriously scrapped halfway through.
Architecture
Originally industrial, the structure has evolved into a masterpiece of arcane modernism and a garden utopia. Base levels retain red-brick facades and industrial symmetry. Mid- to upper levels feature obsidian-and-glass paneling, integrated with glowing runic etchings. Floating terraces and energy-efficient enchantments dot the structure. The peak houses a translucent crystalline dome resembling a temple, said to "sing" during solar eclipses, hence the name.
History
Built during Serna's textile boom, Celestial Song was once just another loom factory. The founder vanished under strange circumstances, leaving the property to be passed along and eventually developed into a commercial titan. Throughout its existence, the building has witnessed economic revolutions, arcane advances, and political espionage. It rose during Kopolchia's industrial golden age and came to symbolize both prosperity and ambition. The Nightfall Massacre on 11 Harvestide 2001 IE spurred the Principality and the world to hunt down the Shadowsong Order.
Tourism
Tourists visit for its scale, its gardens, its high-end shopping and dining, and the panoramic observatory floor. School groups, researchers, and architects study it. A few even claim to visit seeking spiritual insight, believing the tower itself hums with memory. Guided tours offer both historical and architectural insight, with VR-enhanced glimpses into its past as a loom factory.

Celestial Song has a unique microclimate due to its vertical gardens and sheer height. The temperature drops slightly as one ascends, and at higher levels, the air feels cooler, thinner, and more purified due to advanced environmental control systems. Subtle electrical hums vibrate through the walls from the integrated magi-tech power grid. There's a constant yet gentle breeze that seems unnatural near the rooftop levels. Some believe it's a remnant of magickal wind dampeners meant to stabilize the building in high winds. On stormy nights, the uppermost floors sometimes shimmer with residual arcane energy, creating ghostly auroras within the hallways.
