Idria

In the martial nation of Idria, governance is intricately woven with the prowess of warrior priests, who ascend to positions of power not by virtue of bloodline but through merit. These esteemed figures emerge from various priestly orders, each dedicated to a specific aspect of the nation's spiritual life. The selection process is demanding, requiring not only physical strength but also intellectual and spiritual acumen.   The attire of these warrior priests mirrors the unique fusion of strength and elegance. Crafted from a blend of metals and fabrics, their garments serve as a visual representation of the harmonious balance between the sacred and the martial. Medium armor types are favored, providing superior mobility and speed, granting an advantage in both battle and the execution of divine duties.   Yet, the destiny of Idria is not solely shaped by the warrior priests. Challenging the traditional power structure are the bards, residing outside the caste system. Masters of oral history and keepers of ancient wisdom, they play a vital role in guiding the rulers. Through song, story, and spoken word, they weave the tapestry of the nation's past, offering insights that transcend the immediate concerns of martial pursuits.   The bards, intimately familiar with the land's history, act as moral compasses and advisors to the warrior priests. While the priests focus on the physical and spiritual defense of the nation, the bards ensure that the roots of society remain firmly entrenched in collective memory. Their influence, though not overtly political, is profound, serving as a counterbalance to the sometimes uncompromising nature of the warrior priests.   Beyond the martial and bardic castes, other orders of society shoulder the responsibility of meeting Idria's day-to-day needs. Each caste plays a pivotal role in the intricate web of societal functions, enabling the warrior priests and bards to concentrate on their specialized duties. Farmers, craftsmen, and traders form the backbone of the nation, ensuring its sustenance and prosperity.   In Idria, the delicate equilibrium between martial prowess, ancient wisdom, and the practicalities of daily life creates a rich and dynamic tapestry. It is a society where the clash of arms harmonizes with the melodies of oral tradition, and where the chosen few bear the heavy responsibility of maintaining this intricate balance for the prosperity of all.   State block LN Other Traits Government Theocracy   Capital Aedan (58000)   Population Human, Dwarf, elf, half orc, tiefling, aasimar   Language common (Idria)   Religions: Kul-Cain, Lathlane, Urkest, Damash   Other Characteristics   Primary Exports: Idria's main exports are fine fabrics and elite bodyguards.   Primary Imports: Main imports are raw minerals and crafted weapons, due to the scarcity of mining opportunities in the country.   Allies: Halaxia, Quoshua   Enemies: Athantia,   Factions   Threats   Significant NPCS

Culture

Idria is built upon the tenet that the tuning of the body leads to greater revelations and connection with the divine, this has lead the people to take the perfecting of the physical to a religious level, all the castes have a drive to train and perfect their physical abilities, except for the Voice, these bardic oral historians train their minds and memory above all else, they sit outside the castes as wanderers in the lands, they are accorded succor and somewhere to sleep in return for tails and these is great dishonour in turning one away, an act that quickly spreads amongst the area.
The Caste of the Way's highest members rule the lands guided by their honour and divine revelations; they can only be challenged by a member of The Voice who can recall a historical president that opposes the rule.

The People of Idria follow a series of rigid codes of honour, which are complex and at times contradictory; they are held in positions of importance relative to the other codes, though at times the order may change depending on the circumstances you find yourself in.
The primary code is known as the Code of Perfection. This relates to the time and training of an individual's physical, mental, and spiritual growth; it speaks of seeking a mentor or being approached by another for mentorship. Within this code, it is taboo to behave in ways of excess, in any of the aspects; they should be in balance with each other.
Below this is the Code of Society, which is about an individual's duties to the community, city and country. It covers supporting those with less than you, ensuring a clean, healthy and safe community within which you live, an individual's civic responsibility, and to use one's skills for the betterment of those around you. Within this code it is taboo to act in ways of selfish greed.
Then there is the Code of Honour, which is about how an individual treats and acts around others, the importance of a bonded word, or a promise. The ways in which it is acceptable to respond to slights, accusations or threats from those around you. Within this code, it is taboo to act dishonourably, to make bonded promises and break them.
Finally, there is the Code of The Family, this is about an individual's responsibility to both their immediate and wider family, the duties they can call on you for and that you are honour bound to give. Within the code, it is taboo to abandon your family.

To break these codes of honour is shameful and would likely result in the expulsion of the individual from their family and community, making them an outcaste.
Outcastes within Idria have few rights or protection under the country's laws; Most outcastes leave the nation seeking a new start elsewhere. There are some who remain, either seeking vengeance against those whom they hold responsible for their state, or less commonly, seeking a cleansing by undergoing arduous and often fatal acts of reparation.

Military

Irdia's military is lead by the highest caste, the warrior priests, with all positions of authority held by this caste, with the caste of Oath, the making up the majority of the trained military and the caste of the body the bulk of the untrained militia.  They are a primarily infantry based force, but they do have some skilled cavalry, mounted scouts/archers and a high number of divine casters who can call on quite significant aid.
