Golzarga the Half-Breed
A young half orc with a cocky attitude and a delusional dream. Despite having no sailing skills or money to his name, is confident that he'll be the one to find Newgate's treasure. He is a drunkard, but more cunning and devious than he looks. Fights with his bare hands. Tries to recruit the crew at Harlock's Rest. If they refuse, he becomes a Gary Oak, one step ahead of them and gathering a similar crew of misfits. Has a strange body, and comes back from fatal wounds. Wants to destroy all order in a more extreme example of the party's ideals. Has something to do with the Kraken. End boss material. Irish accent. Lovable yet hateable, like Lucien from Critical Role. He's from Eltur, an island that rebelled against the NWTC and was erased from memory and existence by Anum.
Interestingly he lives on the same island as Daralis, someone responsible for his homeland's destruction. Maybe he'll kill her, revealing Harlock's Rest as a den of piracy and getting it destroyed by the NWTC?
Backstory
Golzarga was born on the now-forgotten island of Eltur. Eltur was a relatively peaceful New World island owned by the NWTC like any other. Although they chafed under the brutal trade deals of the Company and struggled to survive, they lived peaceful simple lives. When the word hit of the execution of Newgate, of his last act of defiance, it ignited a spark. The young men and women who had grown up their whole lives under NWTC rule grew inspired to rise up and demand better treatment, forming a rebel group. Fearing that stories of rebellion would inspire more similar uprisings, the Company needed to put a stop to things right away. But descending with full military might would have made them look like the villains in the eyes of the world, and with a grassroots rebel faction, assassination wouldn't be effective either. So an Aegis agent, the future Lady Daralis Swanson, was sent in. She used her enchantment abilities to manipulate a young rebel into assassinating the governor of Eltur and burning the Company Flag, effectively declaring war on the NWTC. With this, the Company had all the justification it needed to exterminate the island, launching a bloody war of aggression. This war raged on for several years, with the rebel groups holding out longer than expected, but with countless civilians caught in the crossfire. With each passing year, the world watching Eltur started favouring the Company less and less, and similar uprisings were threatening to turn sour. Until one day, all Company forces were suddenly given the order to withdraw and retreat from the island. Fearing the worst, Golzarga's father placed the young half-orc and his mother onto a small boat and told them to row as fast as they can, Golzarga's father being one of the leaders of the rebellion not wanting to abandon his allies. It was too little too late, however. The sky turned pitch black as Anum's Hellflames streaked across the heavens and struck Eltur, burning the island to its core and erasing it, both from the world at large and from the minds of everyone. Just like that, it was if the island never existed. Some of these flames also burned at the boat that Golzarga and his mother were on, causing it to sink into the depths. Golzarga's mother perished from the flames quickly, but the boy himself didn't die so quickly. He sank into the crushing darkness of the ocean, inextinguishable black flames burning his body, certain he would die. Golzarga was awoken by a Presence. A vast, intelligent and powerful Presence. A Presence that boils the ocean around it with indescribable fury. The Kraken. The beast was intrigued by the young half-orc's determination to not die, at his surviving the crushing water and burning flames by sheer force of will. It sympathised with him. Golzarga only ever wished to live a free and happy life, something that was taken from him by the same being that took it away from the Kraken. It reached out and gave the boy its power like it had done so many times before, but this time it took more than just a body part as payment, as it usually does. It took the boy's entire broken and burnt body, replacing it with a facsimile made of tentacle matter in the shape of his old body. Golzarga was born anew. He awoke on a random island shore, barely cognizant of who he even was. With Eltur erased from the world, so were most of his memories. As a man with no yesterday, he chose to live in the present, becoming a hedonist who enjoys the here and now. He still remembered his mother's last words to live free, and that's what he did, setting out for Harlock's Rest to become a pirate. But he wouldn't just be any old pirate, no. He would become the greatest pirate the world had ever seen. Once he becomes the King of the Oceans and finds Newgate's treasure, he'll be able to tear down all of the world's laws and boundaries and create a truly free world. Pure anarchy. Over the years his memories of his home have returned somewhat, but it remains foggy. When he finally gets his crew and sets sail, he'll be an extremist, overthrowing authority figures with extreme prejudice. He is unaware of Daralis and Governor Swanson's part in the destruction of his home, but if he hears about Cyron's experience with 'the Silence', he'll piece it together. He remembers seeing Anum in the sky that day and suspects that there is someone who is above even the Board at the Company.Powers and Abilities
Very tough and strong. Not a smart guy but plenty charismatic. Has no sense of direction, and can't name parts of a ship or nautical directions. Being made of tentacles essentially, he doesn't actually have bones, meaning he can squish and stretch to fit through small openings, stretch his limbs to attack from further away, and doesn't need to breathe. Can swim extremely well and resurrects after 1d10 days unless killed in a specific way (severing the tentacle that connects him to the Kraken and then killing him normally?).
