Chapter Theme and Background

//Back to the Codex//   Operation hOpe4Future is themed around survivors from Vault 76 finding the ruins of Paladin Taggerdy’s Brotherhood and attempting to honor them and the people of Appalachia by rekindling their mission.   We are collectively writing a story about a group of pragmatic people trying to preserve the past. Our chapter endeavors to provide the tools and information that future humanity will need to end the new dark age, and defend humanity against threats born from the unfettered abuse of science and technology.

Chapter Background

The plans for Mission 099-01 were salvaged from the ruins of the Allegheny Asylum in the chaotic months following reclamation day by former United States Army and Vault 76 Vault-Tec scientist James Afrika and a ragtag group of Vault 76 survivors. This information, and Roger Maxson's vision for the preservation of technology, provided these survivors with a focus they had lacked. After much internal debate James Afrika was declared the Paladin of the Reconstituted Brotherhood of Steel.

Chapter Disposition

The chapter is engaged and friendly with other Vault 76 survivors and is willing to take any of them on as a Scribe (The scientific/civil service rank path) or Knight (The military rank path) if they are able to pass the Brotherhood Entrance Supplemental Test (B.E.S.T.).   Internally we are a very knowledge based chapter. Our primary mission is a scientific endeavor and as such scribes have a larger role to play in our organization than has been seen before in other fallout games.   Scribes have the authority to request a Knight escort for any mission that they deem necessary to increase their knowledge of certain things they deem pertinent at any time.   Knights are tasked with making sure that Scribes are safe at all times and ensuring the operational state of the chapters equipment. They must be willing to sacrifice everything in order to assure that the Scribes accomplish their missions. This is a lesson directly learned from the fall of Taggerdy’s Thunder, where they were unable to provide the scribes with the resources they required to research an effective solution for the Sierra Bravos.

Chapter Rank Structure

The Rank Structure is based off of the ranks we know are used by the Brotherhood of Steel First Expeditionary Force in the provided Fallout 76 lore.   Our Elder is Roger Maxson and our Highest achievable rank is Knight or Scribe.   All characters will start as Hopefuls until they have made it clear that they want to join the Reconstituted Brotherhood of Steel. While a Hopeful a player does not have to choose if their character will be a Knight or a Scribe. This rank will last until the character (and player) are acquainted with the chapter and promoted to Initiate , at which time you will need to choose a path.     The Civil Service Rank Path is as follows:   Hopeful > Initiate > Scribe     The Military Rank Path is as follows:   Hopeful > Initiate > Knight > Paladin     Promotions are based on need to fill a position and merit. They are not made often. Some people will always stay at the lowest rank we have, this is not meant to be an insult in any way, we are just not a guild where rank progression is a heavily important concept, the roleplay comes first always, and we have to maintain realistic levels of personnel at all rank levels.   //Back to the Codex//
