Goblin
Basic Information
Anatomy
Goblins are small, green-skinned, humanoid creatures. They come in varying shades of green and have large pointy ears, some can even cover their eyes with them. Being only 3-4 feet tall and very slender, goblins have a knack for fitting through small spaces, with some even squeezing through cell bars. Goblins have large eyes that can be variety of eye shades, dark colours are the most common, with more then half of the population having brown eyes. Other colours include, but are not limited to, dark yellow, black, and very rarely, green. The remains of their once fully webbed hands and feet are visible, and some even have slight slits where their gills used to be (it is also goblin custom to tatoo lines on their necks when they turn of age, as a tribute and memory of their gills).
Growth Rate & Stages
Goblinets are born with tiny little numbs as arms and legs, and should fully grow into their appendages by 2 years. However, for the first 8 years, like puppies, their ears lack the stucture and form of adult's ears, meaning that there are little goblins running around with floppy ears. Goblin maturity is counted by whether their ears are fully solid yet. Being fully matured by the age of at least 8, goblins usually live to about 60 years old.
Ecology and Habitats
Due to their love of water, goblins are drawn to wet boggy areas, this is an advantage as these areas are usually uninhabited by the other races. Originally they lived in the sea, created submerged palaces and cities, and generally lived a peacful life. However, when the human fishermen discovered them, despite at first welcoming them into the goblin realm, their lands were soon looted and they were forced out of the sea to wander as in nomadic tribes of goblin, settling in uninhabitable areas between borders of countries. The Ancient Heights being one example, containing the largest camp and housing the Goblin King.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Eating anything and everything, goblins are not picky about food, as long as it's edible then it can be eaten is their rule. And if it's accessable then it's availiable is another. This gives them mostly free reign over what they eat, with stealing not off the menu (see below), given it doesn't kill them.
Behaviour
Goblins are nomadic creatures who don't have a kingdom of their own therefore many goblin camps can be found in generally uninhabitable areas. Because of this, they can't grow their own food and supplies and have taken to stealing and pillaging from nearby settlements. Or that's how the other races see it anyway. In their culture, they do not have a concept of ‘property’ which leads to a lot of conflict between them and other races, being seen as dishonest and dangerous thieves. Amongst themselves, everything is shared, anything you have can be rightfully taken by another, and vice versa: Finder’s user’s is their rule. In the goblin language, they do not even have a word for thief, or even stealing. They casually take and leave things all over their communities, eat from communal pots and often share tents with at least several others. Safety in numbers, as they say!
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
A goblin's ability to detect water nearby is one of their only skills they retained from The Great Migration. This can come in varying degrees of strengths with some even able to detect what type of water, the exact location, and what's in it. These powerful goblins are usually given the role of Cleric and are the spiritual advisers to the king.
Civilization and Culture
Major Organizations
There are not many large goblin organisation as all the goblins are all spread out over the world. The largest of these few is the Goblins Encampment in the Ancient Heights, housing the Goblin King and the largest goblin army lead by Brangle Spearhead.
Beauty Ideals
In goblin society, warts are seen as a sign of beauty and class. Females will generally go for a male that has the most warts and vice versa. Potions and concotions that produce warts are very sought after.
Average Technological Level
Goblins themselves haven't invented any technological items or equiptment, however they do have access to a rather strange varity of items (stolen of course) from neighbouring town and villages, and in the case of the Goblin Encamptment, looted from the ruins of Melendir. These have included a spinning wheel, harp, colander, and to the wonder (and confusion) of the goblins, a prism.
Major Language Groups and Dialects
All goblins will speak goblin and the majority will speak common, although not well as they don't often meet people that are willing to teach them so their dialect is very old fashioned with a hint of goblin. A few goblin tribes will also speak other languages such as elvish or dwarvish is they live close enough to people of that race.
History
Thehtia, Goddess of the Sea, created the goblins and originally they lived in the Plane of Sea. After Omen's attack and the Great War, they were sent down to Aycia with the rest of the races, where they created submerged cities, towns and palaces, as they could breathe underwater. This ability has been lost over time as they were kicked out of the Sea by human fishermen and forced to walk the land, where they lost most of their webbed hands and feet. Goblins do not have a word for steal and this caused some major disagreements with the other races, as goblin tribes had been taking things from towns and villages without thought. When the time came to split the continent up into realms, the goblins were deemd not worthy for an area. Due to them not being granted a piece of land, they are forced to wander the condinent, setting up camps in uninhabitable areas between countries.
