Melendir
"Cepheus marvelled at the vaulting archways, and intricate engravings. Tall towers pierced the clouds and arched roofs displayed statues of dragons, guarding the houses from evil. Rubble littered the marble roads, and many of the houses were merely blackened shells of their former glory. “What is this place?” he asked, his voice quiet and full of wonder. “What happened here?”"- An extract from Chapter 4: The Ruins of Melendir, The Fallen
History
Melendir was once a prospering city built in the old ages by the elves. It was an out-of-the-way place of sorts, built with white stone and marble pillars, gold, silver and white gems, secluded and disconnected from the rest of the world. This city was once prosperous and grand and was entirely self-sufficient. They lived a luxurious life and looked down upon most with a rather haughty attitude. During the First War, it was destroyed by Omen and his followers. He wanted the city because of its wealth and power but also because of its position. If he had it, it meant it was easier to attack Eynlenora; a powerful and influential city. With Eynlenora under his control, he would be one step closer to winning the war. The elves retreated and were forced to abandon the city. Those who managed to get away fled to Eynlenora; now the last elven city, or other smaller elven villages. Omen abandoned the city not long after, for Eynlenora’s defences were still too strong, and the once great city was left to crumble and fall into ruin.
