Ancient Heights

Geography

The Ancient Heights are the longest chain of mountains on the continent of Aycia. Although not the tallest, its stunning views and rich ores drew many people to settle nearby such as Fairwich, the elven city of Melendir and the goblin encampment. Stretching from Vreria to Kendohr, the mountain range acts as a border between Azmarin and Evruzudal and played a large part in stopping the Wizards from invading any part of Azmarin.

Climate

Due to the mountains being so tall, it is almost costantly snowing at the peaks of the Ancient Heights. The weather is very cold throughout the year, and winds can reach up to 35mph sometimes.

Fauna & Flora

As the mountains in the Ancient Heights are tall enough to have almost permanently snow covered caps, not much grows at the tips, however, lower down there lies expansive tree covered slopes full of rich and diverse ecosytems dependant on the area of the mountain range. One of the most rich areas of the Ancient Heights is the part claimed by Nuyanem, consequently also the home of the elusive Winter Wolf, a staple animal of the mountain range.

Natural Resources

Deep inside the Ancient Heights are rich veins of ores and minerals that are mined and extracted by many different people. At the northernmost part of the mountain range is the town of Fairwich who provide metal and stone for Azmarin, and used to trade with the city of Melendir (before it was destroyed) gems and precious metals, in particular the gemstone Valcite. In the south, the Dwarves have many mines adjacent to the mountains of the Ancient Heights, collecting all of it's plentiful bounty.
