The Last Astronomer
Archivist's Excerpt from: From Aikó to Ergospek: The Folklore & Legends of Interior North, South, & Every Which Way, Unabridged Edition, CVI 11.2 – 42:5
It seems some git wrote a book about the events of the conclusion of Confluence 42.4. How this happened is yet uncertain, and from what confluence the git in question was writing is likewise uncertain. Investigation is necessary. For the convenience of the Archivists, at least, the text is available for inspection in various forms, but should be treated with caution, as with all dubious artifacts of unknown Confluences.
Cosmic secrets in astral lights. Experiments to glitch the universe. An eccentric wasteland girl. Ancient intelligences. Primordial Gateways. Well-crafted telescopes.
Illuminating all of Orphan Towne with a newfangled invention, "the light bulb" is quite enough excitement for Junior Engineer (Third Class) Alvin Esker, but after discovering Hana, a peculiar girl-who-can't-exist, his familiar world of lectrics and lunches flips on its pole. Before he knows it, he and Hana have triggered an experiment that threatens the survival of Orphan Towne—and possibly a continent. They embark on a trek to the top of the earth, on the trail of the Last Astronomer, to stop the doom they unwittingly caused ... assuming they don't die.
