Corps. of Agromatics
Archivist’s Excerpt from: A Tale of Almost Two Cities: Orphan Heights & Related Histories, CVI 42:4
The people of Orphan Heights needed food, apparently, and The Expanse is not particularly known for its farmland. Also, Orphan ended up beneath a dome. So the Corps. of Agromatics was founded so that people might not die of hunger unnecessarily. Their sister organization, the Corps. of Animal Husbandry, would manage all livestock, while the Agromatic or "Grow Folk," "Dirt Minders," and other delightful monickers would manage crops. Obviously, with space being limited in Orphan Heights, innovation was more necessary than usual and more pressing upon them than probably any other Corps., except where the Husbandry workers had to deal with smells. Thus came the birth of hydroponics, layered plantations, and all sorts of other wonders to manage the needs of Orphan's population.
