Festil Beastslayer is a figure who appears in many stories of monsters and monster slaying. It is debated about whether or not Festil was a true historical figure or just a legend, because no accounts of his actions have ever been proven to be completely factual. It is even debated when he lived, how he died, or exactly how much he accomplished.
Summary
Most stories about Festil Beastslayer say that he was born as a Glimmer, someone who was born during a Realm Conjunction and is believed to have a soul that previously belonged to someone who died on the realm connected to Avarha at that moment. This is used as an explanation for Festil's tendency to wander, as Glimmers are considered to be lost, untethered souls. There is no consensus on when he was born or how long he lived.
All tales of Festil tell of him slaying monsters and beasts of all kinds, especially ones that have come from other realms during Realm Conjunctions. Sometimes those monster-slaying adventures included others (including several possible lovers and family members, depending on the legend), while most tell of him killing monsters on his own.
No stories are consistent on how or when Festil died. Some say he is immortal and still wanding Avarha hunting monsters. Others say he was killed by a beast he was trying to slay in his elder years. Still others say he found his way back to the realm his soul originated from.
