Usuin - EN

Written by FirethornDragon

Usuin is one of the oldest countries in Aurin. It was part of the Long Xae Dynasty for centuries, but gained independence around 579 F.M. (Before Magic). Usuin is one of the largest countries in Aurin, with rich mountain ranges and ancient forests. Snow covers most of the land in winter, and when spring arrives, birds sing throughout the pine forests across the country. Many believe that the people of Usuin are brutal, brutish warriors, but they actually possess some of the kindest souls among all the jahix people. The orcs here take great pride in raising their families with love and tradition.

The People of Usuin

The inhabitants of Usuin are known as some of the friendliest and compassionate people in the jahix. With a strong sense of community, these individuals consistently strive to help those in need and maintain moral integrity. The values of Usuin are deeply rooted in the belief that power should never be used for personal gain; this principle has guided them for centuries.         In this unique land, governance isn't held by a single leader or ruler. Instead, Usuin consists of diverse clans, each marked by its distinctive colors and crests that symbolize its identity and heritage. Despite their differences, these clans maintain a strong sense of unity. They are always prepared to support each other in times of need, embodying a spirit of collaboration that has lasted for generations. Celebrations in Usuin are lively, with festivals and traditions that foster camaraderie among the clans. These joyful events showcase the shared culture and collective spirit of the people, enabling them to come together to honor their history, culture, and values.         Among their closest allies are the elves of Ilrny, located across the shimmering Mystical Sea. This bond is so deep that the two nations have developed a unique language for their communication, along with an exclusive greeting that symbolizes their friendship. Twice a year, Usuin and Ilrny participate in a cherished tradition of sailing across the Mystical Sea. Because Usuin's laws prohibit portal travel within their territory—except for visits to Chaddo, the School of the Orcs—these celebrations are filled with anticipation. Once in the fresh warmth of spring and again after the turbulent winter storms, these gatherings strengthen their enduring alliance.       There exists a clan of elves that has integrated seamlessly among the orcish population in Usuin, resulting in affluent, mixed families. Both races nurture a profound appreciation for nature, celebrating their connection to the earth's flora and fauna. This shared love is reflected in Usuin's culinary landscape, where delectable dishes are heavily influenced by Ilrny 's culinary traditions, creating a delightful fusion that tantalizes the palate and celebrates and honors their cultural ties. An orc from Usuin can always count on an elf from the Ilrny, and vice versa.

The Goddess Aulla

In the land of Usuin, the influence of the ancient Gods remains deeply woven into the fabric of everyday life. Among them, Aulla, goddess of animals, wisdom, and hunting holds a preeminent place in the hearts of the orcish people. According to their beliefs, Aulla was once an orc herself, a valiant hunter who transcended mortality to become a divine protector and symbol of strength.       Devotees honor Aulla through daily prayers, invoking her guidance and protection as they navigate the challenges of their lives. The goddess is an integral presence in their rich tapestry of traditions and festivals, often celebrated with vibrant ceremonies.       In a profound act of reverence, many orcs name their daughters after variations of Aulla's name, hoping to imbue their lives with her blessings of safety, wisdom, and justice. This practice reflects not only their devotion but also their aspiration for their daughters to embody the same fierce spirit and connection to nature that Aulla represents.       To further honor the goddess, the orcs leave arrows at the foot of the sacred Aulla statues—symbols of respect for the deity who safeguards their wildlife and ensures that hunting remains a sustainable practice. Each arrow serves as a silent vow to respect the balance of nature, reminding the hunters of their duty to take only what is necessary and to preserve the land's bounty for future generations. In Usuin, the legacy of Aulla resonates powerfully, guiding those who seek her wisdom and protection.

Exports and Imports
Usuin exports a diverse array of high-quality resources, including timber from its vast forests, intricately crafted stonework, durable weaponry, luxurious fabrics, staple crops like rice, and potent healing potions known for their effectiveness.       In exchange, the nation imports an assortment of essential goods, such as aromatic herbs for culinary and medicinal use, nutritious wheat for bread and other staples, fresh seafood from its coastal waters, a variety of exotic spices to enhance flavors, and vibrant citrus fruits that add sweetness and zest to the local diet.

Education
The people of Usuin send their kids either to Chaddo the school of the orcs, Merana - School for knights and soldiers, or Felvale.     If there is elemental magic, they are sent most likely to Felvale to study magic. Chaddo has begun teaching magic at their school, but it is still not the primary focus of their education. Therefore, most parents send their kids to study at Felvale if they have magical abilities.       But even at a young age, orcs are taught languages, potions, and everything about plants, herbs, and their healing properties.
