Qahai has had a rich and complex history with the Long Xae Dynasty. Today, Qahai is actively working toward greater self-governance, aiming to become an independent entity — if not entirely free from Long Xae, then at least with considerable autonomy. Over the past century, Qahai has launched various political and social campaigns to gain independence, each facing unique challenges and responses from Long Xae's leadership. Recent political shifts and changes in public opinion have increased the likelihood that Qahai will achieve some level of independence, as local leaders and citizens alike rally for their rights and seek to redefine their place within or outside Long Xae.

The History of Qahai

Qahai is a province of Long Xae and is believed to have been founded around 5 E.M. (After magic). The country was not taken by force, but was established by the people of Long Xae when they traveled to Usuin and Yongar, which were provinces of Long Xae until they became independent countries. Throughout the centuries, the people of Qahai have sought greater freedom, and over the last hundred years, they have fought for their independence to become their own country.

The Tea Smuggling

They have used their tea exports as leverage in the matter. They export most of their tea to Long Xae but trade it all over Aurin. It was what started the famous Long Xae Tea Smuggling in 109 E.M. (After Magic). The tea smuggling lasted for over 300 years. It began when the people of Qahai sought independence, but the emperor at the time refused to grant it. So, the people of Qahai would deliver the tea to the capital of Long Xae Gwangdong nose.       They were so good at it that no one knew how the tea kept on disappearing for almost a hundred years. Over the last two hundred years, the people of Qahai have become more clever at smuggling tea and hiding negotiations around the palace for weeks before smuggling it back. It was a lot of work, but they had fun with it until, for them, the decision to stop smuggling the tea took place around 415 E.M. (After Magic).

The Moon of Long Xae

Qahai is known as the Moon of Long Xae in the world of Aurin. The emperor of Long Xae spent a lot of time in Qahai, often more than he did in the official capital, Gwangdong. Despite his affection for Qahai, the capital remained unchanged, making Qahai an unofficial second capital mainly for the emperor's use. Known for his kindness and gentle nature, the emperor became very fond of the people of Qahai.       This earned it the nickname "Moon of Long Xae," highlighting its importance despite being far from the official capital. Later in his life, the emperor hoped his children would understand the love and connection he felt for Qahai. However, his son did not share these feelings, which ultimately led to the Tea Smuggling of 109 E.M. (After Magic). Interestingly, the emperor himself found humor in the situation.

Climate of Qahai

Qahai has a warm climate with notable seasonal changes. Winters may bring snow, while fall features increased rain and less sunlight. The town's proximity to the Mystical Sea contributes to a storm season with intense weather. Also, the nearby mountains cause significant rain and snow during the fall and winter. In contrast, residents enjoy relatively mild weather year-round.

Exports and Imports
Qahai's export economy is primarily focused on spices, tea, fabrics, timber, and stone. Qahai is the largest tea exporter in Aurin.       When it comes to imports, Qahai mainly sources rice, seafood, spices, tea, perfume, and soap from Danwor and Long Xae.       Additionally, it imports wheat, various vegetables, and oil from its neighboring country, Ewador.
