Civilization and Culture
Culture and Cultural Heritage
Elbrindle reject the idea that the fall of the Aeldurin was tied directly to their interactions of other races; they also reject the idea that elves possess any inherent cultural superiority or obligation to lead others, except maybe by example. Rather, they hold that the Aeldurin's susceptibility to getting pulled into the War of Destinies was due to a flaw that all the races of the time shared; a lack of history and culture. All of the Elder Races came through the Time of Tumult with blank slates with no mythologies or legends to draw on as they spread out and interacted with their new world. Without these, the elves as a whole had been just as ready to jump unhesitatingly into the godswar as any of the others. Thus the Elbrindle have become great naturalists, historians, and philosophers seeking out artifacts of lost times and cultures and specimens of the flora and fauns of the world. They feel no great need to share what they learn or to look into any cultures or histories other than that of elves, but they greatly enjoy scholastic discussions and debates with educated members of other races for the simple sake of enjoying them for what they are.
While their lives and culture center on their enclaves, they do not suffer from the insular and isolationist tendencies of the Aelsol; the only way to gain knowledge and specimens is to go out into the world. The number of Elbrindle adventurers is on par with with the Seldurin, despite the gap in actual populations.
Genetic Ancestor(s)
Scientific Name
Faefin Sapient (Astrae)
Origin/Ancestry
As the Aeldurin raced to separate into the Aelsol and Seldurin factions, a much smaller third group formed around the idea that their fall had nothing to do with other races or a moral responsibility to those races. They named themselves the Elbrindle
Conservation Status
The Elbrindle are by far the smallest of the High Elf races, but they still represent about 25% of that category. They are natural adventurers, philosophers, archaeologists, and naturalists; they do not face any outside threats to survival, but their low fecundity puts them at slight risk of dying out.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Their skin tone is ashen grey or tan brown.
