The Pillar of Hastarrii

Sonnlaig

The Pillar of Hastarrii
Sonnlaig, is one of The Draukeng tasked with entering Atûm and protecting it from the evils stirred by Urrethon and Akatoth.
When the Draukeng were first created, Sonnleig was fourth in command under Tantarma, Argyon and Tarenna, serving as the powerhouse and muscle behind the sharp mind of Tantarma and Tarenna, who often led the councils with The Tarriin, until Tantarma betrayed and abandoned his duties to the Tarriin. When situations grew dire, and ruthless and terrifying strength was required, the Tarriin, instead of engaging personally through fear of over-destruction, would send Sonnleig to dispel conflict through intimidation, but after Tantarma’s rebellion, his methods turned particularly violent.
When Tantarma rebelled against the Tarriin, thinking them unfit to rule, Sonnleig, in his lack of forethought, chose to follow him, soon loving him for his devotion to conquest and unleashing him wherever Tantarma saw fit, at one point, engaging the Nemarru, who suffered enough losses to warrant the intervention of the Tarriin, who loved the Nemarru. Whilst only second to Tantarma and Argyon Keng, when wielding Ankalithane in power, he can increase his strength to the point where he can shatter mountains with a single punch and batter away an incoming blow from the seraph of Narwer (who wielded it himself), with his bare hands.

Personal history

Created in Míthrondas by Ytarrii under the direct manipulation of Urrethon, who had taken the guise of Morphinax, Sonnleig arose fourth out of the twelve Draukeng, and due to his lack of cunning, but incredible stature, was not treated well, and his opinions were often disregarded during council. Given his purpose very soon after his creation, he was bestowed a blade, golden and gleaming, named Gyartorrnum, that was shaped like one half of a massive shield, with a handle stretching across the base, and it stood almost as tall as he. He was named as a protector of Atûm, and for the first period of his life, watched the Anornauglûm outside Míthrondas for signs of Urrethon, whom they knew was working to infiltrate and kill the Alingatarr. When the Tarriin were created, Sonnleig was appointed as the Guardian of Lyfínor, the Tarriin responsible for keeping reality and the existential planes separate from the Anornauglûm. While Lyfínor dwelt in the charge of Sonnleig, Urrethon came to Sonnleig and manipulated him into forgetting his post for a time, then, when Sonnleig was gone, Urrethon showed Lyfínor everything in the Anornauglûm, bringing him to the point of madness, but leaving him slightly less, so he was still sane enough to be tortured by what he had seen. When Sonnleig returned, he found Lyfínor tearing out his eyes and trying to blind himself. Netûnatarr had scolded him for leaving his post and had escorted him back, but upon seeing Lyfínor blinding himself, he stopped him before he could remove his other eye.   As punishment for abandoning his post, Sonnleig was thrown down before Ytarrii, who, in a rage, beat him and attempted to remake him, but Tantarma, who had authority enough to influence the decisions the Alingatarr made, told him to spare Sonnleig. Ytarrii allowed Sonnleig to remain, but took from him his ability to act of his own accord, forcing him to obey every order without question, but also made him unable to be swayed from the orders given to him by the Alingatarr, Tarriin and Tantarma, who was at that time appointed as leader of the Draukeng. From this point on, Sonnleig showed an increased loyalty to Tantarma, whom he was the first to name King, he would then serve Tantarma in all his rebellions and conquests, listening to the Tarriin, but under the magic of Tantarma, only hearing Tantarma and his orders.
