Federation Interstellar Navy
The dominant force behind a Galactic hyperpower
The Federation Interstellar Navy (FIN), also incorrectly called the Federation Federal Navy, and often shortened to the Federation Navy or Interstellar Navy, is the principle space service branch of the Federation Armed Forces. The Interstellar Navy is the largest and most powerful navy in the Galaxy, with thousands of ships and millions of active personnel. It forms the brunt of the Andisien Federation's Galactic Hegemony.
The Interstellar Navy traces its direct history from the Iomhare National Fleet, and the Raybien Federal Space Command, during the formation of the Federation of Iomhare and Raybia. The Navy was designed on the early Federalised models of the Astronomical Navy of the New Terran Republic. Each world was expected to contribute its fair share to the organisation, whether materials, both common and rare, manpower, or construction.
The early Federation grew rich off shipbuilding, with core worlds like Envis and Jaydei providing the brunt of a thriving Galactic shipbuilding industry. Envis Galactic Shipyards emerged as a mighty corporation, rivalling even those of the 1st Imperial Republic of Jerace, and the Apalaryan Empire. The cruisers and destroyers it produced became especially renowned and highly sought after. It sparked a culture of militarism within the Federation, militarism that kept it safe from far larger and more powerful nations. The Navy was a small, yet highly elite and specialised force, capable of striking far above its weight.
Multiple major events would evolve the Interstellar Navy in various ways. The 1st Federation Civil War would see the Navy split in two between the Oberynites and Andisiens. As battles grew in size and importance, the Interstellar Navy of both sides expanded exponentially. The construction of the Grand Highways was similarly effective in expanding the Navy. It also saw the organisation experiment with grand Defence Fleets, the earliest stage of the now quintessential Sector Fleets. Perhaps most notable of all was the 2nd Galactical War, with various major defeats incentivising major overhauls, including the creation of the Federation Armed Forces.
The modern Interstellar Navy is indisputably the dominant space force in the Galaxy. It operates under the Ministry of the Military, with civilian leadership of the Navy falling to the Vice-Minister of the Navy. The professional head of the Navy is the Naval Chief of Staff, who reports to the Vice-Minister, and the Federal Military Council. A number of organisations are controlled, either directly or indirectly, by the Interstellar Navy, together forming the Department of the Navy.
Naval Structure
High Command, Admiralty, Commandery, a simple line, top to bottom. Instead, some bastard centuries ago must've thought himself mighty clever, twisting that line into the most tangled knot of ranks and titles you've ever seen. Don't even get me started on the bloody Naval Corp.
The Interstellar Navy operates under a hierarchical system, subordinate to the Federation Federal Government under the Ministry of the Military. It is the dominant organisation within the Department of the Navy, and has 12 subsidiary Corps.
The Naval Chief of Staff heads the Interstellar Navy, and is supported by Naval High Command. Dozens serve on High Command, but its most visible (and lowest ranking) members are Naval Commanders, who lead distinct Operating Theatres.
Below Naval High Command is the Admiralty, a collection of ranks responsible for individual fleets, and vessel groups. Fleet Admirals, Admirals, Lieutenant Admirals, and Rear Admirals all belong to the Admiralty. These ranks are the highest tactical positions within the Interstellar Navy, and they hold full authority over all naval personnel, including the Naval Corps. An Admiral may hold a command within any Naval detachment, which includes System Fleets, Sector Fleets, Defence Fleets, and Exploratory Fleets. Limited Operational Commands are also led by members of the Admiralty. All theatre-level commanders of the Naval Corps are also included within the Admiralty, even in their semi-independent state from the Interstellar Navy.
The Commandery encompasses the remaining officer roles of the Interstellar Navy, the highest ranking being Flagship Captains, and Captains. Their authority is limited to a single naval vessel or within a naval base. The various tactical officer roles of the twelve Naval Corps are also included; however, they are almost always subservient to the upper echelon of the Commandery.
Famed Vessels
Naval Corps
A number of Naval Corps, subordinate organizations to the Interstellar Navy that nevertheless retain some limited independence, make up the greater Department of the Navy. They are highly specialised, capable of a range of functions and abilities the Navy is otherwise incapable of.

Home Command

Federation Navy Home Command, a major part of the greater Home Force Command, is the largest naval operating theatre within the Interstellar Navy. It makes up the vast majority of Federation Space, and includes 15 System Fleets, and all 6 Sector Fleets. Overall command of Home Command falls to Naval Commander Alfredo Mitchell. He is assisted by several Deputy Commanders, leading the various regions of the Command, ensuring localised leadership. Home Command is headquartered on Serdica, although has major bases elsewhere, including Envis.

Concord Command

Concord Command operates along the borders of the Kingdom of Apreas and the Republic of Osheni, both steadfast allies of the Federation. It is therefore lightly defended, with most military activity being cooperative between the three allies. Miranda Praeger is the Naval Commander of Concord Command, and is assisted by Vice Commander Ansla Lenae. Various Apreasean and Oshenian naval officials have envoy roles. Concord Command is headquartered on the planet Helsa, in Stormveil Base.

Organisation
Operating Theatres
The Federation Navy is organised into 4 distinct operating zones, in addition to a reserve command. Systems Fleets are then assigned to each zone according to the Federation Astraesto Power Threat Index (FAPTI), on a scale of 1-8. Under typical Federation Navy doctrine, 4 fleets must remain under the Reserve Command, to immediately respond to any attacks or other emergencies. Currently the Home Command includes the most Fleets, with many being involved in the Federation-Jenmoreneat War. Each Theatre is controlled by a Naval Commander, whose role is to control patrol zones and assist in naval and inter-agency communication.Home Command
[H-COM] Home Command (abbreviated H-COM), is the largest Navy Operating Theatre in terms of territory, with it covering the majority of Federation owned space. Most of the System Fleets are assigned to this Command, with almost all of them serving in either peacekeeping or anti-piracy efforts. The Home Command is so large in scale that three separate Naval Commanders are appointed to the Theatre. The current commanders are Alfredo Mitchell, Ansela Lena, and Michal Fry Appointments to the Home Command are often considered cosy and easy, especially for officers. Apart from the occasional pirate incursion, crews of ships in the Home Command have seen little combat outside of simulators. In order to prevent what had become an infection of lazy and unskilled naval personnel, the Navy has begun to constantly transfer individual ships in and out of fleets from the home command, into Border Command Fleets. Under new regulations, individual ships have to be transferred after a maximum of 3 years in H-COM, and officers and crew who intentionally transfer to another ship to avoid the Border Commands are liable to a court-martial. As the Jenmoreneat Sector was a part of the Home Command, the Federation-Jenmoreneat War has primarily involved fleets belonging to H-COM. The Federation has complete space superiority over Greater Jenmoreneat, with H-COM fleets now acting as a launching base for army soldiers, and aerial craft.Jerace Border Command
[JR-COM] The Jerace Border Command (JR-COM) is the Navy Operating Theatre directly concerned with defending and performing retalitory strikes against the 4th Empire of Jerace. JR-COM has the second-highest number of fleets under its command with 8 and is commanded by Naval Commander Anakin Yenlin. JR-COM patrols every Federation Sector that directly borders Jerace, with its fleets spread evenly across the front. The main purpose of Federation forces in JR-COM is power-projection, with the fleets being a daily reminder of Federation Naval Power in the Galaxy, and a direct deterrent against any sort of invasion. Should Jerace ever attempt a full-scale war against the Federation, it is expected that JR-COM will hold the line long enough for H-COM and R-COM to fully mobilize a retaliatory strike.Apalachian Border Command
[AL-COM] The Apalachian Border Command (AP-COM) operates in sectors which border the Kingdom of Apalachi. It serves a similar purpose to JR-COM, with fleets serving as a form of power projection against Jerace's most powerful ally. As the border with Apalachi is much smaller than with that of Jerace, only a few fleets operate under the Apalachian Border Command. The current Naval Commander is Miranda Praeger.Apreasean-Osheni Border Combined Command
[APOH-COM] The Apreasean-Osheni Border Combined Command (APOH-COM) is the most lightly defended operating theatre in terms of pure fleets. It patrols along the border with the Kingdom of Apreas and the Republic of Osheni, as well as the Pelleon Anomaly. The Fleets assigned to this zone perform anti-piracy actions alongside the Apresean and Osheni Navies, making it the only operating theatre in which the Federation Navy performs operations alongside allied nations. The current Naval Commander is Garrus Shepard.Reserve Command
[R-COM] The Reserve Command (R-COM) does not have any established patrol areas. It is instead made up of approximately 4 separate fleets, which are based inside Iomhare but do not assist H-COM. At the order of either the President of the Federation, the Secretary of the Military, or the Naval Chief of Staff the fleets can be authorized to immediately support any of the other Operating Theatres, although they are often only used in wartime or emergencies. R-COM follows the same regulations as H-COM, although with entire fleets instead of individual ships moving in and out of R-COM. The last time R-COM was activated was during the 4760 Kidnapping Crisis, where the 5th and 31st fleets joined the Operation Sanctuary Task Force. R-COM does not have a traditional Naval Commander, instead falling under the command of the senior Naval Commander of Home Command, currently Alfredo Mitchell.Active Fleets and Commanders

CRONA
'Coordinated Readiness of Naval Assets'
The CRONA system is an alert state utilised by the Interstellar Navy, prescribing the organisation's state of mobilisation. It is a six stage system, with the lowest being Blue Condition or CRONA-1, and the highest being Crimson Fire or CRONA-6. It is a subservient system of the Federal FEDDRA alert system.
Blue Condition
Normal state of readiness
Green Vigilant
Heightened intelligence, minor deployment of rapid reaction units along designated zones
Yellow Wary
Further increase in deployments to critical regions, Navy ready to partially mobilise
Orange Alert
Ability to mobilise Naval assets to a war-time footing within a 24-hour window
Red Guard
Active war footing, all Naval assets are deployed in support of national defence
Crimson Fire
Critical deployment of ALL reserve Naval assets, full nationalisation of the Naval Aligned Business and Corporation Scheme
NABCO Scheme
The Naval Aligned Business and Corporation Scheme or the NABCO Scheme, is a legally mandated buy-in of any company that meets a certain threshold and produces goods critical for the running of the Interstellar Navy. It is a tiered system, based on importance to Naval Operations.
A company must sell a controlling share of their business to FINSCO, with a range of expectations in line with one of three chosen tiers.
The NABCO Scheme is administered by the Department of Naval Commerce and Industry, under the Assistant Ministry of Naval Logistics.
Strategic Naval Asset
Strategic Naval Assets are corporations that specialise in Naval specialty goods, including shipbuilding, propulsion, and weapon production.
These companies are subject to direct oversight from the Department of Naval Commerce and Industry, with any major decision being subject to approval by the Assistant Ministry of Naval Logistics.
Considered essential to the war effort, on the activation of Red Guard, these companies are partially nationalised, with provisions in place for full nationalisation depending on the needs of the Interstellar Navy.

After checking out your Army, I knew I had to give some love to your Navy! And now, a few weeks later, I finally have! And I'm certainly thankful that I did, because WOW is this good! Pretty much all of the things I'd want to see in an article like this are present, with the details not spared! This is defineitely something people should read if thy want to make a good military service. That said, I hope you would permit me to ask a few questions, particularly to do with 1) The nature of the Civilian-Military leadership split, and 2) More details about the "Naval Staff" at the head of this massive organisation. That said, it's still an incredibly detailed article, I wnjoyed it immensely, and I look forward to seeing even more of your content in the future!
