Pelleon Anomaly

The Pelleon Anomaly is a giant nebula-like piece of stellar phenomena that separates the territories of the Kingdom of Apreas, and the Federation of Anfieden and Allied Planets. It is the largest of its kind and stretches across a massive zone of the Terran Arm. Such phenomena are widely recognised as unique to the Galaxy of Astraesto, and are frequently observed by masses of scientists and astronomers.   The area is near universally impassable, with only a few short zones, carved out over centuries, capable of traversal. Large numbers of closely packed black holes, neutron stars, and the strange, hostile creatures known only as Void Voyagers cause enormous issues to any traveller through the region.   The nebula was one of the largest roadblocks to early galactic colonisation for the New Terran Republic. For many centuries it prevented colonisation of the western Terran Arm. Eventually, the legendary explorer Zann Pelleon would find a route through the nebula, allowing for the establishment of the Republic of Osheni, which was originally intended as a penal colony. This route, while feasible for many travellers, began to experience an unusually large number of disappearances and cases of insanity. This led to the desire for new routes through the nebula, with many of the current routes used today being discovered during this period. For every successful voyage through the anomaly, there were hundreds of failures, many ships and their crews, never seen again.   In the modern Galaxy, the nebula has served as a border between the Andisien Federation and the Kingdom of Apreas. Despite the two nations being allies, some conflict has emerged over who the nebula belongs to. Trade flourishes, with much of it going over the nebula; however, if it can be avoided, it usually is.
