the Path of Stars
The Path of Stars is a yearly pilgrimage to Myn Serennyth undertaken leading up to the winter solstice by those who wish to greet the Sun as the longest night of the year comes to an end.
History
The Path of Stars has its origins in the myth of The Longest Night, wherein the ancient Cuédleür follow a sign from their God of Stars to recover the missing Sun God.
Execution
Each year, those who wish to greet the Sun or make offerings to the Fey at large make their way to the base of Myn Serennyth, gathering to share light through the longest night of the year. In the hours before dawn, all climb the mountain in a group, arriving shortly before sunrise.
Gathering the clan around the standing stones in an eastern-facing semicircle, the World-speaker overseeing the pilgrimage begins a ritual chant for the dawn. Pilgrims add their voices to the prayer, calling out to the Sun so it can find them, continuing the chant until the Sun has fully crested the horizon.
At this point, participants who wish to make offerings descend into the sacred grove to the southeast to make their wishes for the year to come.
Components and tools
Per the folklore, any gift accepted by a Fey at the end of the Path of Stars will be returned tenfold in the year to come. As such, common offerings include crops, dried meats and fish, materials used in artisan crafts, and money in small amounts for those who can afford it. Some may choose to make a symbolic offering, such as healing herbs for good health; however, leaving a symbol's interpretation up to the Fey who accepts it may result in unwanted returns.
Observance
Although the Path of Stars begins at a different time for everyone depending on where they start from, the pilgrimage culminates with the longest night of the year and the following sunrise.
