To whom it may concern -

My name is {TBA}. I have, through a series of events I cannot quite explain, found myself within the Otherworld, and I do not yet know how to return home. In all likelihood, I never will; I know the stories as well as anyone, and those who disappear into this realm rarely, if ever, make it back. I can only hope that, even if I never set foot in my village again, this journal will keep my story alive in some form. If it finds its way back to the clan, maybe it will bring my family some closure... At the very least, I intend to record as much as I can of my time here, in the hopes that it might give some future traveler information that would give them a better chance than I have. If that's you... good luck to us both.

Historical Details

Background

Otherworldly Travels is the title given to a journal kept by a Cuédleür traveler while lost in the Otherworld. The traveler hoped that, in the event that they failed to return to Ðiéithtír alive, the journal would preserve their story and perhaps find its way back to their family; upon their eventual death due to old age, it was handed off to their village's senior story-keeper, who recognized its value as a first-hand account of a famously unexplored realm and took measures to ensure its long-term preservation.

Legacy

As Otherworldly Travels is the only known record of a first-hand experience within the Otherworld, it has become the backbone of the Cuédleür understanding of the fey realm's landscape, inhabitants, and nature. The original work is carefully preserved and only accessible by senior story-keepers; transcriptions are made by hand so that all villages have access to at least one copy, allowing story-keeper apprentices to commit key portions of the text to memory as part of their mentorship.
