The emergence and proliferation of Arcano-Technology has lead to great advances in Aryillian society. Most of these advances were credited to Rian Osmid. The invention of the discipline however is the accomplishment of Orren Bafflestone, the first Artificer (this is kept on the down-low and not taught in history books).
Orren's early life is not really known by anyone. Although he lived to an age of 344 years, being born in 11660, he didn't really come into the public awareness until 11867. Even then he was only a humble blacksmith. It is believed by many that he developed the concept of Arcano-Technology in his spare time.
Sometime in the 11990's Orren took Rian Osmid as an apprentice, teaching him the basics of Battle Smithing. Unbeknownst to Osmid, Orren was a leading member of a cult known as the Scarlet Horizon. During his time in Scarlet Horizon, he was responsible for the mutilation of Virgil Hawthorne as well as research into the suit of armor known as the Adamantine Juggernaut.
Orren's evil was brought to the forefront when Team Deicide investigated the disappearance of the body of Virgil Hawthorne after his death. It was revealed that Orren was intending to combine Virgil's consciousness with the raw power of the Adamantine Juggernaut. Team Deicide put a stop to this.
Following the confrontation, Adran Amakiir intended to execute Orren with the intention of absorbing his soul into Adran's blade; however, fearing that Orren's knowledge would to greatly strengthen Baphomet's forces, Rian executed Orren himself.
