Dautlin came from humble origins. His family was from the slums of Alderdeen and he didn't have much opportunity; but he had ambition. With such circumstances, Dautlin's only option was to join the military. Dautlin displayed a natural affinity for the great-sword which quickly got him placed among the military's elite. After a few years of service, Dautlin was promoted to the head of the Kingsguard. Dautlin would serve during the tenure of King Hedgam Stormbreaker until the events that lead to the fall of the king. Dautlin wished to see a return of the rule of justice so he founded the Bear Hill Rebellion. Dautlin was responsible for the formation of Team Deicide. After the success of the rebellion, Team Deicide decided to nominate Dautlin as king. While taking the throne was not Dautlin's intention in forming the rebellion, he certainly would not turn down such an offer.
