H.o.B. Arvura Arc 2

Designed for Level 4

Arc Focus

The warring begins to spike up. This fuels Karnell’s rage even further. Starting with the settlement of Karseg, the battle’s results determine if the Revered will advance to Malevia fortress or if the cael is needed to step in and help.

One researcher, Lorelyn, believes that with Karnell on the move again with the Dichotomy’s activities, she believes it’s the prime opportunity to sneak into a specific set of ruins that Karnell takes great interest in. Perhaps there, more could be learned about him.

Adventure 1: The First Fragment

Premise. Uncover Karnell’s origins and potentially learn about his weaknesses.

Introductory Hook

Purpose. Meet with the researcher Lorelae that it’s safe to head into Karnell’s ruinous hideouts to investigate details about the Shattered.

Salvecar City

Once within Salvecar finally, you find a great deal of flower petals scattered around the street, most of which are stomped on. As for activity, the only people out and about is a medical wagon as civil guards are quick to rush out a fair bit of wounded.

Arnsley’s eyes light up seeing one wounded elven woman be carried away, “That aetheriin! She’s a researcher who helped me get on my way to helping the faithful! It is imperative to ensure her safety!”

The aetheriin is Lorelae. She is one of the few Renaki followers within Arvura. She has taken an interest in studying both the Shattered and Candescent as the only research that gets supported is toward the war effort. She explains her injuries are from scrapes with bandits and thugs out in the field.

Lorelae explains that, with the army now on the march, it is now viable to explore Karnell’s hideout to see what lore can be found about him. Not much has been investigated about him because the Revered only focus on the Cult.

Adventure 2: The Grand Battle

Purpose. The party is swept up in a military campaign to assault the setttlement of Karseg.

Encounter 1: Call to War

Purpose. Showcase that the Revered are beginning to mobilize southward to Karseg. The commanders and staff believe the party is obliged to come along for staying at the outpost. Should the party decline, General Graln demands a toll of 200 gp as costs for the guards and staff that maintained the outpost.

Assuming the party accepts, proceed with the adventure.

Encounter 2: Villagers of Ortrun

Encounter X: Burning of Ortrun

Purpose. Showcase that the Salverns aren’t as moral as the Cultists.

The army comes across an outer village, Ortrun, and the general deems it ought to be torn down. The staff believe it’s unnecessary but only because they’re aligned with the Cult is why they are content to burn it down.

During the attack, mention the following:

  • How easily overwhelmed the guards are, as they’re merely militia.
  • How many are considered demon worshippers but not a single demon is in sight.
  • Mercy is a lost concept to these Revered, simply because they believe these corrupted align with demons.
  • The party finds stray survivors trying to flee the carnage.
