The Unknown Region

What is the Unknown Region?

The unknown region is an area of Arcathia, that no empire has a significant hold in meaning it is mainly unexplored, leaving lots of planets and civilizations with no contact. It is a vast area of space, more than all the empires combined, including The Wilds. The unknown region is a great place to escape to, if you were a criminal, pirate, or gang member who is running from empire law as all the empires agreed to not claim parts of the region, because it would be unfair.

Although lots of the planets have not been contacted, lots of small empire groups, pirates, solo explorers, mercenaries, magic brokers, and gangs have traveled short distances into the Unknown Region, in search of new planets, resources, and goods. A few of those planets have been found to contain rare materials not found in any empire territory, such as Magic Conductive Metal, and some Gemstones. Because of this, quite a few magicians have also traversed into the region, looking for these items.

Some clever explorers and excellent navigators realized they could sell maps of the Unknown Region for a hefty price, making their living from traveling through space. However, is is also a dangerous place to be, because there is no infrastructure, refueling stations, or military, some unfortunate astronauts have met their demise in the haunting region.
