What is a Magic Conductive Metal?
Magic Conductive Metal (m.c.m) is a description given to special types of metal that can transfer energy between Gemstones and magicians. It is extremely useful, as it offers a way to access energy stored in a gemstone by the wearer without direct skin contact with the gem. This means that the magician can wear a necklace or a ring, that a gemstone is set in, and as long as m.c.m is touching the wearer, the magician can access the stone's power.
However not all things are as good as they seem, because m.c.m is slower in energy transfer than direct contact of gemstones to skin. The quality, rarity, type, purity and amount of magic conductive metal can all affect the speed of transfer. For example, if the metal is of a higher quality, or has slightly different properties to other m.c.m, the stones being used via the metal won't be bottle necked. This is where most magicians, and magic sensitive people spend their time; in search of better, higher quality magic conductive metal.
Where can Magic Conductive Metal be found?
There are many planets littered with Gemstones, and magic conductive metal, where both materials formed together, and so they affect each other. If a gemstone and an m.c.m are found together naturally, they must be used together as well. If these two bonded materials are separated, the metal wont work with any other gemstone, and the gemstone won't be able to hold nearly as much energy. Because of this problem, most magic conductive metal, and gemstones will be found on different planets, separated from each other, then are bonded together during forging.
Most planets containing known gemstones and m.c.m have been claimed, mining stations erected, and are monitored closely to protect the flow of the materials into circulation.
Combining m.c.m with other metals
Some m.c.ms are found in their pure form, while other are found with impurities. The purer the m.c.m, the better it conducts energy from gemstones. However, some magic conductive metals aren't as good in their pure form, because they could either be really soft, or have low melting points, and in some cases melt against the wearers body heat. However with the addition of special other metals, m.c.m can be strengthened enough to wear safely, while still having excellent transfer speeds.
