At an early age, Hesem was picked from the population of Dreadcairn and placed under the tutalage of Delivan's Tower. He quickly proved less capable than his peers at the arcane arts. He did, however, prove rather adept at the ways of the sword. As such, a knight under Delivan accepted him as his squire.   So the boy became man and mage to be became an eldritch knight of the Court of Delivan.   At the age of 31, Hesem was send south, along with five other knights to investigate attacks occuring further south, in the cold wastes beyond. Mainly fishermen lived here, but Archmage Delivan ruled these people and would look after them. Among the knights was Hesem's younger brother, Victor, freshly knighted and ten years younger than he. No one expected them to find an adult blue dragon. The fight was over quickly. Only two of them, Hasem included managed to absorb the blast with their arcane ways. Victor die instantly to the beam of shattering frost that cut through them. In moments Hesem was left alone, with the last of his fellow knights struggling to stand beside him. They charged...   It must have been more than two hours before Hesem regained consciousness among the shattered remains of his companions. The track back was long, and horses could not bear the cold this far south. They had come by foot and so he would have to return.   After a week he finally fell into the grand halls of Delivan's tower, frostbite ridden, starved and dehydrated.   The dragon would not be found in his lifetime, but Hesem never stopped yearning for revenge.   At the age of 42 the previous knight captain died. Archmage Delivan was to pick his replacement. To Hesem's surprise, he was the one chosen. He was not the oldest knight among his peers. Nor the most powerful. Hesem never truly understood why he was chosen. He never learned that Delivan valued determination above all things. And his track back from a fight with an adult blue dragon proved one thing. There was no knight more determined than Hesem Baelfire.   Having outlived his lord, he submitted himself to General Lemuel Humphrey Mills. He would lead what remained of Delivan's army and defeat the foe that struck down his master. During the gathering of four, he was there, representing the south. With the new edicts in place, he was to be general. It pained him greatly to do nothing but defend, but he agreed with Mills. There was no defeating this foe in open battle.   At the age of 78, his time was passed. Not as quick or powerful as he once was, he left the Fortress City of Snowthain in the capable hands of his successor and set of one last time. To find the dragon that had once harmed him so.
