Urath Groyarak

Urath was born to an Orc woman working as a tavern maid, and a human sailor. Her father left when she was young, and she never knew if he was alive or dead. When she was six, her mother met another sailor, this time another orc, and when she was seven, the two had her brother, Ulago. This new man convinced her mother that she could earn more for her family as a sailor, and so she agreed to join him on his next expedition, leaving Urath to care for her brother. The first few voyages were fine, but then one day, the couple never returned. From that day on, the then nine-year-old Urath did what she could to earn money, from singing or playing rudimentary instruments on the street corners to bringing “special grown-up stuff” from one end of town to the other. Often, she left Ulago at the tavern under the care of the other employees, and would pay them for watching him when she returned (though the employees would slip the money back into her pocket when she wasn’t looking).   Urath’s first experience with boats came a year later when she was ten. The tavern where their mother worked had let the two children stay there rent-free, but when the original owner died and his heartless daughter took over, she started charging Urath rent. The other tavern employees pitched in what they could, but one night, the woman kicked the children out. With nowhere to call home, the children were forced to live on the streets. Urath continued to work, but Harbor Village is a dangerous place, and so she was forced to hide her brother until the day was done. But as he started getting older and had a more difficult time sitting still, as young children often do, she decided it would be best to make the move to nearby Homesteading. She saved as much as she could until she could afford the boat ride for two to the neighboring island. She spent the whole ride worrying the two would end up like their parents, and then promised they would never set foot on the water again.   But when Urath was fourteen, the two finally had a chance at stability when a ship came looking for sailors. With no other end to their situation in sight, Urath and her brother volunteered to join the crew. And lucky for her, it wasn’t so bad at first. Since the two were so young, they were given simple jobs, like washing dishes and helping to serve the other sailors at mealtimes. Ulago even appointed himself as cabin boy, and did errands for the captain all day with glee. All in all, it was a positive experience, and encouraged them to seek sailing jobs in the future.   At the age of twenty-two, Urath caught wind of another expedition. With their first crew disbanded following the captain’s retirement, she thought it would be a good way to fill the hole in their hearts and make new friends. But Urath was naive and perhaps a bit arrogant from the life she had already led, and the two wound up joining the ranks of Captain Tobe Namedlater and beginning a life of crime as pirates, under the guise of a legit cargo ship. She wanted to leave, but the captain all but threatened her and her brother if they ever left, at least until he was done with them. Her insubordination following this discovery prevented her from ascending the ranks, and her physical strength made her perfect for much of the heavy-lifting around the ship, which made her too tired to even think about escaping. Worse, her brother, going through a bit of a destructive teen phase, seemed to love their new lifestyle, and quickly got in the captain's favor. Since then, her goal has been to keep her brother safe and happy, even if it means putting up with this Captain’s bullshit.   One night, a mutiny broke out aboard the ship. Tired of the cruel Captain Tobe Namedlater, she joined Debauchery and Lokee and fought against their higher-ups. Her brother took her side and the two fought together, at some point going overboard like most of the rest of the crew. Like her father, mother, step-father, nobody knows if she's alive or dead.
