Jorland Farmtender

Current Date:
Peaceday 5th of Primus, 6017, in the Era Secundus

Jorland Farmtender (born 9th of Moradin, 5964 Secundus), formerly King Jorland the Second, is a influential farm owner, owning a major estate near Hossar. He is also the previous king of Irelia, and the last living member of the Royal Dynasty of Irelia.

Early Life

Jorland was born as the son of King Asrand the Wise, putting a great deal of expectations from him from birth. The greatness of his father was a major point for most interactions Jorland would have throughout his life.

Growing up, Jorland would learn all the intracies of ruling a nation and handling its people. He was also not at a loss for regular education, being stuffed in the Royal Mage's College, built by his father in 5952. Intellectual life would be short for Jorland, with his father dying to a lung infection in 5981. Jorland ascended to the throne the same year.

Reign

Jorland would kick his reign off by strengthening his relations to some of the neighbouring kingdoms, most notably with the Kingdom of Testrales. In these efforts, he wished to create an alliance, which he planned to have him aid in a military campaign against the northern enemies of Irelia.

This would culminate in his marriage of Princess Amelie Heartscent of Testrales in the year 5985, with her giving him a son in the following year.

5987 would be a great year for Jorlands realm, as a great harvest would give the country plenty of resources to guide into his designs. Specifically, the eastern forts of Irelia were flooded with supplies, making it clear to many that the king had ideas for the vampiric neighbours.

In 5995, a peasant rebellion would shake up a large region around Rivald, after the King tried to have their tools confiscated, for smelting down in the forges. In the end, his army was successful in crushing the rebels, though his downfall would be imminent.

The Riversworn Uprising

In 5998, King Jorland would attempt to raise the levy all over Irelia, trying to gain forces for a campaign into Vampire territory. Plans to reconquer lost territory of Irelia would fall flat though, as the levy would lead to the Riversworn Uprising, declared and led by Theodor Riversworn, a former Knight of Rivald and peasant rights advocate.

Initially angered over this open rebellion, as the Riversworn Uprising took its course, Jorland realised this as a chance to be freed from the weight of the crown.

Thus, in 6001, as the armies of the uprising stood at the gates of Hossar, he would ride from the city, to deliver news of his voluntary abdication and his crown to Zeggor Pyrehide, by now new leader of the uprising.

This abdication gave him favorable terms, allowing him to request some small comforts. He only wished for some decent farmland to the south of Hossar, safety to him and his family and a small loan of 1000 gold pieces to get his farm up and running. Zeggor would respect his wishes, under the condition that Jorland would never seek to bear the crown again. This deal was accepted by Jorland in a heartbeat.

Life After The Uprising

Jorland spent most of his time after his abdication on his farm, where he grows all sorts of vegetables, some fruits and maintains a stable of 6 cows, 10 pigs and 4 goats.

His joy and pride of the farm are his cabbages. Growing as big as an Ogre's head, they sell well on the Hossar market, which he visits once a year. Often, the citizens of Hossar welcome him with not just open arms, but cheers and admiration.

In 6007, he also bought two horses, which have since seen much use in the pulling of his cart.
