Personal history
Upon his arrival, despite having been deemed unable to accumulate magical energy, his negative emotions created an influx of negative magical energy that he was able to absorb. This explosion of negativity attracted the ghosts of Morana, leading them straight to Betsalel.
Quickly realising that this child had been abandoned and left to die, the ghosts became enraged and swore to raise and protect this boy. During their time taking care of Betsalel, the ghosts travelled over the ocean to Elentiya to gather food and supplies for their adoptive child. On their errands, they came across many baskets with dead bodies in them. This kept the ghosts' rage fuelled for sixteen years.
When Betsalel was old enough, the ghosts decided to tell him what had happened to him. They explained to him how they found him and how they were able to interact with the physical world. Hearing his tragic tale, Betsalel swore revenge on his parents and promised the ghosts that they would soon rest in peace once again.
Betsalel reshaped his shoulder blades into blood-red wings and flew over the ocean towards Elentiya to enact his revenge and put a stop to the abandoning. On his way, he saw the baskets just like the ghosts had told him. He cried the entire journey.
Arriving on the shores of Elentiya, Betsalel patrolled them for a while, searching for parents readying themselves to abandon their children. Soon after his arrival, he found a couple standing on the beach with a dark brown basket in front of them. Betsalel stopped mid-air to watch the scene play out.
The woman held her child tightly in her arms. Both were crying inconsolably. The man next to her spoke calmly, reassuring her. When the woman stepped forward to place the child in the basket, Betsalel saw proof that they were abandoning that child. New rage flowed through his veins and he dove in to attack.
The man defended his family with a sand barrier that Betsalel's fire turned to glass on impact. After a short moment of shock, the couple attempted to flee with their child. Betsalel circumvented the barrier and turned the father and his own arms to ash.
Hearing the panting of the fleeing mother and the crying of the infant, Betsalel recreated his arms using the ashen remains of the man and dashed after her. He managed to land in front of her, blocking her escape. At first, the woman stared at him with wide eyes, before recognising the son she had abandoned sixteen years ago. She softly spoke his name.
Enraged further by this, Betsalel punched a hole in his mother's chest, torching her from the inside. The infant fell into the sand and ashes, crying still. Relieved in having exacted his revenge, Betsalel picked up his sibling and returned to Morana.
He created the Tower of Betsalel upon his return, a shelter for abandoned children. Betsalel would fly out over the ocean, collecting the abandoned from their watery deathbed, giving them a new home and a purpose to live towards.
