The Holy Viridian Sovereignty

The Viridian Sovereignty, or Kotima as it is called in Elvish, is one of the four constituent kingdoms of The Pious Union of the Awakened, a kingdom of Elves.   Unlike the other three kingdoms, The Holy Viridian Sovereignty is more openly theocratic. Governmental leaders are the clergy of the official state religion, The Reverent Path. While outsiders might view such a system as frighteningly conservative, the way that the Elves view and worship the Elven Automaths involves a lot of carefree openness, where their gods are viewed more as paragons of good living than as authorities proclaiming dogma for the faithful to follow. Elders in the religion are held in high esteem, but mainly because they are said to embody particular virtues modeled by the Elven Automaths. How could a great military leader have succeeded, without the example of Voulisi? How could a great scholar have elevated her university, without the guidance of Apsida?   In effect, the clergy of The Reverent Path are retirees, elders of the society who have already succeeded greatly in their chosen professions or lifestyles, and are recognized as closely following the Path set for them by the Elven Automaths. In keeping with the other kingdoms, elders of The Revenant Path vote on representatives to send to the Chamber of Nobles in Vyberg, while Elves who have not yet reached that stage of their lives instead vote on members to send to the Folks' House.   The capital city of The Holy Viridian Sovereignty is Vireama on the coast of the Tychi Sea. Their territory extends to the city of Lutarha to the southeast, west to the foothills of the Cloudscrapers and Giantkeepers, and north as far as Levätä, beyond which is land overseen directly by The Pious Union of the Awakened.   The current Reverent Sovereign is the Reverent Sovereign Aywin Mirana, whose long life of experience is extremely valued in the Viridian Sovereignty, especially as they are the kingdom of The Pious Union of the Awakened that lies closest to the border with The Verum Imperium.
