Skanda, Satyr Automath

Skanda is the lone Automath of the Satyrs.   Little is known of this mysterious god. Legend has it he wandered off from the other Automaths on the First Day, using the enchantments of his lute and paintbrushes to transmute the Beastfolk he came across into his own likeness, thus creating the Satyr people.   What is known is that, not long after the Awakened began to live among one another on The Cradle and the shores of The Sundered Ring, word began to spread from the Gnomes that Myala had granted them knowledge of their origins as creations of The Archfey. While the Gnomes themselves struggled to understand what to do with this information, and a schism was at the earliest stages of forming between the Gnomes and their version of their creation story and the slowly coalescing pantheon of The Pious Union of the Awakened, the Satyrs began seeking the guidance of Skanda.   Skanda, to the detriment or blessing of the Satyrs, answered their prayers, telling the Satyrs that not only was the story of Myala true, but that they and the Firbolgs were also the creations and playthings of The Archfey. Though they had been a carefree people reveling in celebration of life itself, the Satyrs were outraged by what they heard, especially as they saw the Awakened around them (who greatly resembled The Archfey, as described to them by Skanda), slaughtering or displacing the Beastfolk, with whom they felt a kinship. Nearly every last Satyr up and left the region at that moment, vowing to live among the Beastfolk and disavowing the rest of the Awakened and their false narratives.   Though Skanda had not meant for such an upheaval, his tendency toward creating mischief rather delighted in this, and in his heart cheered that his people had taken their own path of freedom. Because the Satyrs loudly announced what Skanda had told them, he was branded a Dissident, and all worship of him was immediately forbidden within the nascent Union. Today, Skanda is thought of as something of a bogeyman among the Awakened, a horrifying goat-man who steals away naughty children.   Priests and clerics of Skanda practice the domains of Trickery and Life.
