Territories of Holiest-Laure
The Territories of Holiest-Laure are a collection of territories in the far north of Phoebe that are notable for being the focal point of several wars across Phoebe.
History
The continent of Nocluin was originally home to several bands of indigenous tribes that have since been given the name the Feihn. When the Jordeinne and the Dourish crossed the Easlish Ocean, they discovered the massive landmass of Nocluin and the race to claim the most land for their respective empires began. While initially the race was peaceful between the two juggernaut superpowers, the indigenous people's of Nocluin were not so fortunate, often the victims of both disease and war. Eventually when tensions rose between the Dourish and Jordeinne settlers, small scale scuffles broke out across the continent with the indigenous people caught in the middle.
It is a historical reality often denied by both the Dourish and the Jordeinne that the Feihn were treated horribly. Their lands were taken and sold at will, elderly killed and children enslaved all in the name of progress. It is estimated that roughly ninety five percent of the population of Nocluin was wiped out during the Edunian Uplift.
The biggest decider by far was the introduction of the White Plague - a strain of tuberculosis. While contractible by everyone, the settlers had a predisposed resistance from generations of exposure. The indigenous peoples were not so lucky and as the plague swept the land and quick decision had to be made by the remaining tribes. In the northern regions of Nocluin the Dourish and Jordeinne both ordered the building of a wall, both to keep out the beginnings of the beginnings of what would be the Abandoners and the infected Feihn in the hopes of preserving what remained of the native population.
While both Ibeadour and Jourdan credit themselves with the creation of this wall, it was entirely enslaved Feihn who built it. With the loss of control of the budding Nocluin Alliance, the Dourish and Jordeinne went to war over the remaining land in Nocluin, a war that the Jordeinne eventually won by way of Dourish abandonment. It was voted on in Ibeadour that the continued colonization and occupation of Nocluin wasn't worth and that their efforts were best spent elsewhere. They also wanted to separate from the negative image that the Nocluin Uplift was getting as word of mistreatment spread through other countries.
The Jordeinne had no qualms and fully occupied and claimed the remaining Nocluin territroies, naming them henceforth the Territories of Holiest-Laure, named for a prominent holiest of Jordeinne history. The Jordeinne started industrializing Laure, making it a mecca of industry and pollution in the name of both the base and rare earth minerals to be found in the frigid north.
Throughout this all, the mistreatment of the indigenous Feihn continued, communities exiled to poverty and disgrace. The Jordeinne had moved away from slavery, moving into labelling the Feihn's very existence criminal and inducting most of them into work camps to perform hard labour until they die.
Eventually a massive coalition of Feihn tribes got together and made a massive push against the Jordeinne occupation, effectively pushing out the majority of the settles on the west coast. This major push lasted for seven years until eventually the Jordeinne were pushed out in their entirety.
Techinically speaking, Laure is liberated. However the Jordeinne still consider it part of the empire, and the Dourish interest was renewed after massive deposits of gold were found in the heartlands. This, on top of the Nocluin Alliance pushing the Izunoa Wall, the Laure are assaulted on almost all sides and the war rages on.
