Jourdan
Jourdan is one of the three superpowers of Phoebe, and as such it holds considerable power over the rest of the world. Jourdan is often noted for its high society, focus on the arts and academics, in addition to being a paragon of nobility. On the flipside, it's often critisized for its gaudiness and frivolity.
"Nous manegeons la richlesse." A common saying in the lower cast of Jordeinne society meaning: "We will devour the rich."The official motto of Jourdan means: "Holiest in Unity."
Demography and Population
In the homeland of Jourdan, life is typically good. Even among the peasants the rate of both disease and death are relatively low, happening later in life. This is in partial due to the high level of skilled doctors within Jourdan as pushed by the senate and as such the quality of life is extremely high. Population centres coincide with the many rivers dotting the landscape with a massive eighty percent of the population living in massive port cities on the coast.
The story is very different in the colonies however. While the high level of medical expertise remains on the colonies, they are typically overrun with poverty as the native populations are pushed into work camps or prison camps in order to mine the natural resources. Those not in the camps are typically pushed to fringes of society or into the wilderness in order to survive in small bands that often times are deemed illegal under Jordeinne rule and hunted down. Life expectancy as well as quality of life is low in the colonies, with the populations spread out massively as the Jordeinne fight all efforts of unity and civil engineering made by the native populations.
Territories
Despite the massive power held by the Jordeinne, Jourdan in and of itself is rather small. An island nation covered in majority forests and rivers. This is the central hold of Jordeinne power, though it is the smallest territory held by the Jordeinne.
As it stands, there are currently fifteen territories and colonies held by the Jordeinne, all of which feature a massive Jordeinne presence to help overwhelm the natives. Of the superpowers, Jourdan actually holds the least amount of land, though it is notable that majority of the places seized by the Jordeinne are massively rich in natural resources which helps cement their power.
