Melora Goddess of Nature (Meh - lore - uh)
Mother Melora, Fane of Flora and Fauna, the Eroder of the Mountain, is the goddess of the wilds and nature. Her symbol is that of a tree with many branches. She represents nature from the animals that live in the high mountains, to each blade of grass in a wide plain, and to each tree in the forests
Overview
Her alignment could be considered Chaotic Neutral. She is responsible for the forest fires that occur in order to keep nature itself in check. There have been times where a nation would get too greedy and delve too deep into her forests for resources. In retaliation, she would send animals in droves to defend her domain. In some situations, she went as far as to burn down the forest with the invaders trapped inside. Her creation of the Tree-Ent's was to guard the ever-growing frontlines of her expanding domain
The only adversary she typically has is anyone or thing that is a front to nature like an abomination from another plane that has breached its way in. She has a long history with Torog. During the First Era the two had a rivalry and clashed many times for each other's domains. She also created the Spriggins and Tree-Ents to protect certain areas, naturally these areas are now seen as sacred
Followers
Her main force of followers would be that of druids, hunters, rangers, and farmers. Typically, when someone believes she is worthy of worship, she is seen as the only God deserving so, unlike the people who pray to and give thanks to several divine beings. Despite having such devoted followers, she very much despises most sentient life. The devotees of her will often find their favorite elements of nature and pick those spots to pray, meditate, or safeguard. These spots could be against their favorite tree, calf deep in a flowing stream, pond, or lake, or in the middle of a grassy field. The dedicated ones will spend so much time in these locations that they will start to take on more physical traits of these locations as Melora acknowledges and begins to take a piece of you in her and leaves a piece of her in you. If your favorite spot is by a tree, you may feel that your limbs become longer and lankier, more branch like. If your favorite spot is in a body of water, you may find that your skin becomes more hydrophobic
Omen
When the mother of the forest begins to wither and fade for a time, the wilds begin to alter. Regions will begin to experience seasons in strange ways. A clear summers day could be as cold as a snowing winter, a rainy afternoon could be as warm as a tropical summer's day. This oddity lasts only a day and is never regional specific, where two neighboring towns could be experiencing different phenomena. After these signs follows abnormalities with the flora and fauna of the world. Animals become harder to find, as if they just disappear, the ones that can be found often act erratically or like other animals. You could stumble upon a pack of wolves swimming in a lake, you could be stalked by a prowling deer, when faced to face with a wild cat it might play possum in surprise. Trees will be still in the wind, their branches may begin to droop, some will grow exponentially. Patches of grass and fields may die while others will have a wild surge of growth. Man made paths could be completely enveloped by overbrush or become more spacious with undergrowth
Return
When Melora returns and once again blooms, she spreads herself to touch every region to let her return be known far and wide. Her presence will halt the abnormal growing patterns of the trees and plants but she does not change them back. The animals return to their natural habitats, behaviors, and routines. Farmers will experience their crops growing to a full bounty overnight, some vineyards will make a specialty wine from the harvest and the vintage that comes from it is highly prized and collected. Followers of Melora are usually lonesome by their nature already or living in small communes. After her return however they take further steps to isolate themselves, to celebrate her return they will go on a walk about. Some may use the inspiration of their god returning to venture to a far off destination they've always wanted to see. Others will wander wherever their feet may carry them, preferring to avoid roads, towns, or any other signs of settlements until they've determined where they were meant to be
