The First Era

There are no existing records of when the world of Amphalia was created. No one knows who, what, or when exactly the cosmos, stars, and planets were created. What is known is that after societies were already formed, the powerful, naturally gifted, determined, those that could harness the weave, or otherwise exceptional people and creatures were able to ascend to divinity. In the current era, none of the Gods that are still around take credit for creating the earth and sky, creatures and plants, oceans and the air, only that they have claimed such as their domains. After which they began to create, alter, or shape their domains. They gained followers, worshipers, idols, warriors, and many took on champions that could fight or speak on their behalf. During this era, the gods were ever present, manifesting physically onto the material plane to walk, talk, and be amongst the mortals they governed. In the first era there was a much larger pool of deities or entities to choose from as well. Many beings would be born into godhood, rise to take it, earn it, and die in it

Primordials

There also existed a class of entity that has unknown origins, physical representations of energies and elements, and they rivaled the God's power. These entities did not speak or have a mind to speak to, they did not seek to gain followers, they did not rise into being, they simply existed. It is theorized that these Titans, these Primordials were the first entities to exist and that they may be the ones that created everything. However, no solid evidence of this exists as they left behind no traces, stories, relics, or signs. The Primordials would often clash with the gods that claimed domains adjacent to them, those within the same realms had to avoid them as best as they could or flee. For instance, the Primoridal of water resided in the oceans and seemed to be omnipresent throughout its entirety, many divine beings had claim over domains such as the reef, the trenches, sharks, various regions of the ocean. All of which either knew to avoid and not draw the attention of the cosmic being or they might attempt to fight and subsequently parish from it

Conflicts

There are legendary stories of Gods fighting one another, these clashes could stem from anything to a display of strength to a conquest of another's domain. Those that amassed enough followers to form an army would have them join the fight, this naturally created wars. There are epic and also tragic tales of when mortal kind rebelled against a divine. As the stories go, some were successful where others were not. Eventually the current standings of power; the divine, the lesser gods, the mortal beings that dwelled in their domains, and the chaotic elementals were all expanding too much, growing too fast, and reaching too far. Everything escalated until there was a great war, the cosmic war, a conflict that lasted so long and altered the chemistry, the weave, and foundations of Amphalia so greatly that it was later referred to as The Deicide

The Deicide

At first, the sides were not so clear. There was a general understanding amongst most that the divine needed to go, either killed, banished, or sent away. In the start however, it was mostly composed of uneasy alliances. The Primordials seemed to want everything gone, they were also suddenly coordinated with each other. Appearing in groups, summoning other elemental beings and creatures to tend to the armies, one would appear with the summons of another. However, if the Primordials weren't enough for the divine to contend with, there was also the added issue of opportunistic Gods betraying one another to better themselves. Some even went as far as declaring themselves outright against the rest usually stemming from a grown hatred of some kind. Many other powerful entities existed during the Deicide as well such as Dragons, Beholders, Leviathan etc. Some of these would amass their own smaller followings of sorts, some actually rose to the occasion and joined the fight, others would flee to deep recesses of the material plane or even to other planes entirely to wait out the conflict

The Aftermath

The Deicide lasted for centuries and marked the end of the first era. An uncountable number of Gods, mortal kind, and elemental beings were dead when it was over. In the end, it was the divine and the side of life that had won but not completely. Many of the stronger Titans were not dead but banished or fled on their own accord. Where they had gone or where they are in the modern era, no one could know. Two Primordials in particular known as the Mother and the Father were the last to go and it took the combined power of all the divine that were left to banish them to a far-off unknown plane beyond the cosmic wheel. Afterwards, the veils between planes were greatly weakened, the weave was damaged, what was once hundreds of Gods became a mere dozen with the gate to divinity collapsed upon itself

Domains were divided rather than claimed by the remaining as well as the decision that would start the second era. Despite their disagreements, the battle worn, beaten, and scarred Gods decided and agreed amongst themselves to leave the material plane. They would return once their strength had, but they would no longer physically involve themselves with the material plane. Keeping themselves to an overseer role from now on, still able to communicate and influence those that would listen but never again to directly act. The power vacuum that followed by the absence of the divine and the Primordials started the second era
