Monument to the War of Continuity

"As the Troco ran red with blood, the savages carried on- there would be no rest until every man was killed"   This quote is attributed to author Isabella Willis who watched the The War of Continuity unfold infront of her house near present-day Margem. The statue is located there now with her quote inscribed on the bottom.   This statue is located at the meeting point of Margem and the Upper Merchant Row, meaning most men walk by it everyday to go to work.   This statue is a huge point of conflict for present-day citizens. It keeps open wounds of the war and reminds people of the ancestors they lost, it shows men in a savage manner multiple men over the years have tried painting dresses on the statues in protest, and it uses Tantani techniques, reminding the people what the Empire stole from their homeland.

Purpose / Function

The monument was commissioned by the Council, requested by the Ministry of Image, in Year 5. It was created by the Matriarchy to remind the men of Grenagem what their natural, primal behavior can lead to and how brutal the The War of Continuity was.

Alterations

The red 'blood' added to the base was added 20 years after the statue was first built when the Empire learned Tantani techniques for coloring granite. There have been many attempts to vandalize the statue over the years as it is seen as a symbol of hatred. Men often paint dresses or long hair onto the large figures to show that the women in charge are just as evil.

Architecture

The monument is made of granite to show the ever-present effects of the war and the permanent nature of male brutality.   The monument depicts 7 men fighting with spiked clubs and steel daggers. They all are attacking someone else and arranged in a sort of circle. The only color in the gray statue is the top of the base, which is covered in red paint to look like blood.
