Lousà Mountain Range
The Lousà Mountain Range was once a flourishing natural wonder where people went to relax and get away from the city. The present-day mountains are now bare and empty, barely even noticed from the Grenagem city center. Sometimes, on a clearer, sunny day the mountains are still visible far to the east, their brown, empty haze serving as a reminder of the industrialization. Once being an escape for people to retreat into the woods to escape The War of Continuity, the empty mountains are nearly unnavigable. Some brave people do still venture up the mountains to escape from city life.
Geography
These steep mountains with sharp cliffs lie about 100 km to the south-east of the city center. They were once completely full of wildlife, flowing streams, and sprawling forests, but currently are barren, stripped of their former beauty. People would sometimes ride out to here on horseback to get a beautiful view of the Grenagem landscape, but now it is almost impossible to navigate.
Natural Resources
The wood from the forests and the water from the natural streams used to be the primary natural resource in these hills, but in Year -10, a few explorers found traces of Alumentum in the soil at the base of the mountains. Alum went on the be discovered as an incredibly efficient source of power that was easy to harvest and highly valuable. This led to a massive, century-long frenzy which destroyed the landscape and the small village populations in the mountains. The area overwent a revolution of sorts as it was turned into a checkboard of Alumentum mines. The refugees from the war that had settled in the hills were forced out or killed by the Empire as they pillaged the land. The veins of Alum ran dry after a few decades and the Empire abandoned the mines around Year 25, moving their mining to the Roza Islands and La Tantani. Currently, the mountains are a ghastly brownish gray with no trees and no nature present.
