Northern Plasha
People of the Boreas
The Northern Plasha are a people living in some of the harshest environments on the continent of Ethae. The Plashin Range is known for its tall steep mountains and glacier filled valleys. The northern peaks are frequently hit with storms blowing down across the Piercing Ocean, and the valleys not covered in ice are frigid forested marshlands. The world of the Plasha is literally trying to kill them every moment of their lives.
Still, these hardy folk have carved out an existence for themselves. In some ways far better than their Southern Plasha kin. Their remote mountains, far from the civilized world, kept them out of the sight of the extermination attempts by the lowland people of the Heartlands. This means that their population is far larger than their southern brethren.
This does not mean they live in a land without threat. Their greatest rivals for territory are the Orc of the Plash Orchold. The two cultures have been in a generational conflict that seems to have no end, until one of the two is extinct. In the harshest times the Plasha also find themselves in the need to raid lowland communities for supplies. An act that has not made them popular with the regional powers. Their fellow humans see them as monsters no better than the orc they hate so much.
Like the rest of Plasha culture, these people practice forms of body scarying and tatooing. Ancestor worship is a major part of their culture and religion. Skulls being a sacred image in the society. Northern Plasha, unlike their southern cousins, wear masks when outside. These masks are nearly always made to look like skulls, with each individually sculpting and painting their own into a distictive unique image. These masks are made of a ceramic material created only by the Plasha that has similar properties to porcelain.
