Illusionist
Wizards of Illusion
Illusionists are Wizard that study the Anon (Magic) and its ability to manipulate and trick the mind, alter the senses, and design a new reality for those that believe. The term illusionist often has negative connotations, and often rightly so. Many of the most famous illusionist in stories and tales are the bad guys, warping the heroes view of the world, twisting the damsel into believing false reality, and so on. It is true there are those out there that would use this magic for such nefarious things, but for the everyday illusionist reality is far more mundane. The everyday illusionist is using their knowledge to create signs for shopkeepers or colorful light shows for festivals and fairs. Many get wealthy when hired into theater troops, aiding in creating deep illusions for the stage production.
Those few illusionists that found themselves not content with the mundane life will often hire themselves out into mercenary groups or national armies. They say deception is the key to warfare, making the illusionist vital in any battle. This is not just to create deception against the enemy, but also as a counter to any foe's own illusionist.
Most illusionist learn their trade in the traditional wizarding colleges, like Divinare or Dover College. These colleges offer courses in the illusionary arts. The few colleges that do exist that focus on illusionary magic are often hidden away from the world, only taking the brightest minds. The most famous of these is Houdin House, an illusionist college somewhere on the shores of Lake Roic. It produces the infamous Houdin Illusionists that are notorious for cause mischief throughout the Heartlands of Ethae.
For a casting conduit illusionist favor the easily transportable, and concealable Wand. Though this is not always easily understood as many of them will disguise their wand in an illusion. These are usually illusions of items of similar size and shape, such as quills or riding whip. This strengthens the illusion. Often the clever illusionist hides the conduit by making these everyday objects into the wand or Rod, thus eliminating the need to use magic to hide magic.
