Gissu'mi
Shadow Wraiths
Gissu'mi are creatures of solidified shadow from Etu Enur. They are created by Ngissu deep in that shadowy realm to serve as servants for the greater shadow demons. There is little understanding of these creatures' creations, but the general consensus is they are the remains of evil souls captured by the Ngissu and transformed into Gissu'mi.
Weaker than Ngissu, with little will of their own, Gissu'mi serve as proxies for their creators. Although there is a consciousness within the Gissu'mi, they feel nothing but echoes of their past self. Their only ambition is to obey their master and destroy all they can when unleashed. These creatures do not feel mercy, desire, or fear. Only hate remains within them.
Creatures of shadow, Gissu'mi appear as little more than a solid darkness with a vaguely humanoid shape in Etu Enur. When forced to cross over into Aldern through a Shadowfell, Gissu'mi are outfitted in armor forged and enchanted by their Ngissu masters. This armor not only helps them keep their physical form solid, it resists the Anon (Magic) of Aldern that is consistently trying to disintegrate the shadowy creatures. The Gissu'mi will usually wrap themselves in cloaks and robes over their armor for extra protection and cancelability. These cloaks absorb some of the Gissu'mi essence over time, becoming more ethereal and darker. A wearer of one of these cloaks can disappear into shadows becoming near invisible if still.
Highly resistant to damage, these creatures can only be hurt by enchanted weapons. Wounds, however, are extremely toxic to Gissu'mi in Aldern because they expose the creature to the Anon which begins to corrode their form immediately. Though they do not fear their own demise, they hate the vulnerability of being forced to exist in such a hostile realm. This hatred is often directed to the wizard or other powerful person they are expected to guide and serve on Aldern.
