Fiend Patron

the Deal of the Devil

There are many reasons a Human might seek out Fiends as a patron to become a warlock. Revenge, wealth, personal power, gaining the love of a woman (or man). The tales are endless why one would make a 'deal with the devil'. The most common tale is simply that not everyone was chosen by an Archfey, or born with the right bloodline. The use of Magic is difficult to abtain, and some will sell their soul to gain it.

While some fiends watch mankind, looking for those they wish to 'guide', most inspiring fiend warlocks seek out a way to contact those from Beyond Aldern. This quest will inevitably lead the hopeful to a Shadowfell where they can contact the other side. Sometimes the other side answers back.

It should be clear to any would-be fiend warlock, the creatures are evil and seek to corrupt the warlock and as much as they can through that warlock. If they cannot corrupt, destruction is acceptable also. The fiend will demand worship as a god. Many warlocks are fooled by the fiend as they gain more and more power, both personal and magical. They believe they have outsmarted or befriended the fiend. They are only pawns in the fiend's game, even if the fiend tells them they are the king on the board. A lot of power can be gained from becoming a fiend warlock, but the cost is never in the mortal's favor.
