Circle of the Lands

the Naturalists

Druid of the Circle of the Lands are what most people think of when they hear the term druid. Their numbers are also the largest of any circle. These are the priestly class of the ancient order that ask Aldern herself for guidance in their path. Nature itself is their ally. These druids, more than any other, call on the trees and flora of the world to defend them.

Of the circles of druids, the Circle of the Lands is the one most associated with a single region. That being the Loslands. Here these druids live in remote communities deep in the forests. Remote and isolated as these communities are, the druids remain connected with the local Los people. It seems for each of the Los tribal territories there in a local druid community within. Druids will have representatives in the local tribe's leadership. These act as advisors, priests, record keepers, and healers. Several tribes are all but lead by these druids. Others as lawgivers and judges. They may be a people that live apart from the towns of the Los, but they are undoubtably intertwined with the culture and politics around them.

The Somon of Southern Jerain see the druids as saviors and divine heroes of old. Centuries of invasions by Normon nations have pushed the southern cultures into conformity. The southern natives have been pushed back, and back again, until only the Loslands on the west side of the Kincad Mountains remained free. It has been the Los druids of the Circle of Land, aided by the Circle of the Moons druids of the Brimland, that have held the line at the mountains, stopping the foreigner's advance.

The druids are seen by the Church as pagan priests that worship nature over God (Alu). The Circle of the Lands is the primary target of their ire, and they have been waging a successful propaganda war for centuries against this ancient order. This is why so few Circle of the Lands druids are found outside of the Loslands. Many Trijan based nations are unwelcoming, or outright hostile to them. Those that travel the lands of the major continent of Ethae will stay in remote wildernesses rather than go into cities as traditional travelers might. Often, they will travel with adventuring groups for safety in their travels. That is not to say there are not many 'God fearing' druids among their order, it is simply the Church sees the old ways as a dying beast to be killed and replaced with the new order of the Trijan faith.
