Brimland (BRIM lan (d is silent))
Brimad's Bed
Brimland is a harsh land of misty forests, soggy marshes, and rough hills. Often left off most maps, it is usually lumped into the eastern region of the chaotic lands known as the Gauntlet by cartographers. At the heart of Brimland, standing atop a steep mount, is Brimad, one of the last surviving Elder Tree. It is said that with the death of each elder tree this land became harsher and deadlier, Brimad's grief and rage incarnate. Only the purest of heart can reach the tree now. All others should beware the dangers of the Brimlands. It will devour all. This is in large part due to the Brimies, the fairy community that make Brimad their own. The Druid of the Circle of the Moons, devoted to Brimad, also call this land home, and defend it furiously. Dreadcap, the tree's Narasan (avatar protector), also stalks the land, killing all that threaten its peace.
These creatures of Brimland know of the death of the other elder trees. They will never allow it to happen to their own tree. There is a murderous hate in this land for outsiders, especially Human, who they see as the source of the other trees deaths. The brimies, druids, and Dreadcap fertilize Brimland with the corpses of any that cross into this region. There is no mercy, sympathy, or remorse. Even Elf can suffer this wraith. Elves are seen as failing to protect the other trees, so consumed in their war with Dragon and politics with humans. But at least the elves get a warning to leave, all other die before realizing their mistake.
The Brimland landscape has been sculpted over the ages by the fairy and druids. Deadly plants, enchantment traps, and twisting natural mazes cover the land. Brimland is a beautiful deathtrap. Most creatures in the land are druids in animal form. Thos natural animals of Brimland are tamed, charmed, and enchanted to serve. Any that can resist will be killed. Brimies and druids patrol the region and beyond, slowly trying to expand Brimland a few inches each year. A buffer zone to protect Brimad from the outside evils that would bring the tree down.
