After accepting a small job in the city of Ninct to recover a wizard's lost familiar, several individuals - Arthur Callahan, Alyona Rackham, Tim Incendium, and Kei Drake - end up discovering that he was planning to use the unfortunate wooddragon in his magical experiments. Upon learning this information, they decide to instead rescue the wooddragon from him, and end up leaving the city quite quickly and traveling south to evade capture for having set his tower on fire.
