Dym
Sent by Tim Incendum's brother Mike as a guardian, most of the time Dym is the very picture of canine goodnaturedness. However, when threatened, he sets aside his normal guise of an ordinary labrador retriever and takes upon the form of an enormous hellhound bent on protecting his people and getting chin scratches.
The creature steps out of the darkness and into some of the hazy blue light in the middle of the deck, and you can see it much clearer. It seems to be standing in a pool of deep shadow wherever it moves, bringing darkness with it that can only be compared to the unyielding void of gazing up into a starless night sky. Its fur is a shaggy dark black as well as its flopped ears. The creature is a canine no doubt, but its shoulders are eye level with you - as well as its vivid, fiery red eyes. It stares at you all, a slight growl in the back of its throat, unmoving except for the slightest twitch of its nose. There's a huge ungraceful thunk sound, and after a few moments a medium-sized floppy-eared black-furred overly-excited dog dashes ungainly through the doorway.
