Mittrellion

The folk from Aerhold will return thither in due course.
~Folk of Aerhold   Mittrellion is one of the nine kingdoms. It is located in the center of aimane, with Helioth to the north, Derendor to the south, Goldarihr to the east, Etaliron to the southeast and Ascilian to the west. Mittrellion is characterized by its great, inhospitable jungle that covers about half of the realm's surface named the Kodar. upon its eastern fringes lie the Hinilli mountains and upon the southern lie the Gundushad. Mittrellion is populated by the Mittrellians, who are the same people as the Mirvanians, that are descendants from the ancient tribe of the Mirvani, founded by Ranién's firstborn Aliorod and his wife of the lake, Tsalisi. The Mittrellians rule over the Kodari, the primitive natives of the Kodar, who have lived there since the first humans arrived in Aimane, unlike the Mirvanians, who came to modern Mittrellion after the fall of old-Mirvania. with the blessing of Alior, the Mirvanian sages rose two rocks into the heavens and founded upon them Thornbridge castle among the peaks of the Hinilli and Shaldorn Palace at the shores of Clarak lake.

Structure

Mittrellion is ruled by its king. The king has executive and legislational power, and can rule nearly every aspect of the nation in a way that he so desires. Since the rule of king Rafganor, the Mittrellian king delegates power to several other bodies; the city masters, who rule in the name of the king, have their power extend over a city; there is always one city designated per fiefdom. There are also the village masters, who in turn rule over villages in the name of the city master that rules over the city of their corresponding fief. citizens who live in neither a village or a city must ascribe to one, unless they live in a territory.
The king does not hold absolute power over the realm; since king Rafganor the kingdom is basal monarchy, meaning the king must abide by the base laws, which are reviewed by the kingdom's Great Sage once every ten years. Every five years, The Great Sage also has the responsibility to form the circle of the Thornbridge, which councils in Thornbridge castle. the circle of the Thornbridge usually consists of scholars, city masters, religious leaders and merchants. It observes Shaldorn Palace through the Palera and controls the king, and reviews whether the king holds true to the base laws. Should the opposite prove true, the circle of the Thornbridge can assume power over the legislative branch in question for six months and adjust the course.

Culture

The question regarding what makes a man Mittrellian is not one easy to answer; for not all those who live in Mittrellion are Mittrellian, and all who left behind the Mirvanian wasteland do not live in Mittrellion. As such, the Mittrellian is not equal in meaning to "one who lives in Mittrellion." It is mused by historian Tonicia Oredan that "being Mittrellian is not a matter of the locale one chooese to live in, but rather subscribing to a school of thought." What, then, is the Mittrellian school of thought?   The great distinction between the Mittrellians and their ancestors the Mirvanians is their attitude to their home. Mittrellians consider Mittrellion a temporary abode, despite it having been their home since the end of the war of the burning sea. Upon the abandonment of the great wastes of Mirvania, the memory of its beauty was still fresh and not forlorn. The Mirvanians considered their leaving one of pure need and necessity, and never relinquished the claim to old Mirvania. They founded new Mirvania in the Kodar and its surrounding lands, and they created their new realm from the ground up. Yet they did not find it permanent; a burning is not permanent, they believed, for unlike Tordisti, there was no totality in the destruction, and much yet grew in western and southern Aimane. Should old Mirvania recover, then the Mirvanians would return.
But the wastes did not recover fully, and to this day the east is mostly barren, excluding the lands cultivated by the inventive Dwarves. Two thousand years passed, and the Mirvanians became the Mittrellians, and the memory of the beauty of the lost realm faded into history, and then into song and myth. But the Mirvanian hope did not wither, for a proud and stubborn folk they were; since they inherited a gifted leadership from father Aliorod and mother Tsalisi, and this talent was in each and every one of their people. strifing with one another they were, and proud the Mittrellians are to lead themselves at the very least. Believing in the strength of the leadership over the self, they spread from corner to corner of the middle kingdom, valueing their freedom from rigidity and rules. They admired the ways of the Kodari with whom they shared their realm, but craving leadership over others the Mittrellians sought to impose the Mittrellian ways on the Kodari. "As if one uses a torch to fight a fire, we do naught but feed the flames" is what the Mirvanian king Rár said about the Mirvanian relationship with the Kodari; indeed the Mirvanians and Kodari were so alike in their needs that they clashed in their pursuit to achieve to govern oneself. The strain between the two peoples has rooted itself into the Mittrellian identity, and after a great many wars the Mittrellians have seemingly surrendered themselves to a Mittrellian realm outside the Kodar; most of the Kodari retain their independence, be that complete or de facto.
The relationship with the Kodari remains strained, but the Mittrellians see this conflict as tedious; it is after all of lesser importance in the light of the future return to Mirvania. While settlements and feats of great splendour have been achieved in the Middle Kingdom, they are still temporary to the Mittrellians; little sentimental value is given to architecture; buildings are quickly replaced, and have few ornamental features, save for the Aikami's. They treat Mirvania near religiously: pilgrimages to the outer reaches of the Mirvanian wastes are common for all classes. They also often undertake pilgrimages to the ruins of Shimit. While the Middle Kingdom has no direct borders with the wastes of Mirvania that is unblocked by the Hinilli mountains, Mittrellian communities have sprung up to form small colonies in the Unclaimed.    To be a Mittrellian means, in essence, to be proud, fierce and assertive. They have a strong sense of self-direction and this shows in their culture. Fashion and architectural styles have been wildly diverse since the days of Tordisti. many aspects of culture are taken from other Tordian tribes. culture trends happen within Mittrellion, during which particular styles and way of thinking run through Mittrellian society like an epidemic. these trends can last for a year, but they can also last for decades. They vary in popularity and geographical spread. Their strong sense of independence leads to a generally skeptical view on hierarchal structures, but this often leads to little tension, for leadership is the most respected quality to have to the Mittrellians, and the leaders themselves are naturally used to being questioned, and understand it as respectful critiques.
