Matroka

Matroka, also known as the Plane of Memories, is a plane of existence that is adjacent to the Material plane which contains imprints of memories of death. When someone dies in Aellorah, what is left of their animate Flow is converted to spectral Flow. When this occurs, an imprint of their memories at the time of their death and a record of the circumstances leading to their death is left behind in Matroka. These imprints appear as phantom images that replay the moments before a person's death in an endless cycle for eternity.

Matroka itself is a plane of endless sands which violently whip about in a massive sandstorm. Attempting to travel through Matroka is nearly impossible for anyone who is not trained in the practice of Sifting, which is an extension of Soulbinding. Sifters are so named for their ability to navigate these sands and locate memories within.
