Lodis
The island of Lodis is found to the southeast of Arak's Yzerid Desert, and to the southwest of Gothir. The island is a mystery, unknown to the larger world, due to a Wellspring anomaly which shrouds the waters outside of the island in thick mists. Those that have attempted to approach the island since this anomaly appeared simply turn away from the island, forgetting it was ever even there, due to a Geas that the island's anomaly places on outsiders. This has kept away all outsiders since the Age of Creation, with the exception of the Human inhabitants of the island.
The sole inhabitants of the island are a population of Humans who migrated to the island from Myr during the Age of Creation, likely within the first thousand years of Human existence. Because of their Myrian origins and early migration, the Humans of Lodis have no knowledge of the other races of Aellorah, except for vague tales of "tricksters" said to snatch away misbehaving children in the night that are used to frighten naughty children, which appear to be describing the Vesperkin, which appeared around the same time as Humans, also on Myr. The Humans are not even aware of the Seven Sisters or the Wellsprings, due to the wear of time on their historical records and distance from the Wellsprings. They also have no exposure to magic.
Although they have not been exposed to the rest of the inhabitants of the planet, they do have a single Letheni inhabitant, by the name of Galathrath Raevern. During the late Reckoning period, Galathrath was a simple merchant looking to import some foreign ingredients and wares from Gothir to bring back to the desert, and set sail for the port city of Guruma. However, along the way, his ship was caught in a violent storm and was destroyed, leaving him nearly dead. Due to being knocked unconscious by the ordeal, the Geas of the island had no effect on him, and he washed up on the island's northern shores, where he was discovered by some Human hunters.
Galathrath was initially feared by the Humans of Wulvenholde, the island's single town, especially due to the fact that Galathrath knew a few simple spells due to his origin on Arak. He never learned more than some basic cantrips and low order spells, but his magic, along with his foreign appearance, was enough to convince the Humans of Lodis that he was a god, or something like it. Adding to this belief is the fact that when Galathrath washed up on Lodis, he was only in his second century of age, and he is now well over 1,000 years old. He has become a living memory for the people of Wulvenholde, as well as their guide. Although the idea of being worshipped as a deity was unpalatable to Galathrath due to his worship of Lys, he attempted to introduce Lys' teachings to the island's people. However, he feared what would happen if the people's exaltation of him became fear or even hatred if they were ever to discover the truth, so he has gone along with their belief in him for well over a millennia. He has caused some good by spreading Lys' teachings in the form of "wisdom" to the community, but due to his poor education in religion, he has also caused some damage.
One benefit of Wulvenholde's isolation from the world is that they were completely spared from the Grave Rot Plague. However, the island is not without its own dangers, which has hampered their ability to expand to the southern reaches of the island. One of the island's threats is the Gloomwulven that come out of a dense black fog blanketing the southern portion of the island known as The Gloom. These "wolves", if you can call them that, are what gave Wulvenholde its name. They, along with the Gloom, were created by a Wellspring eruption some time after the anomaly that isolated the Humans on the island. The Gloom is a magical darkness through which none can see, and entering it is certain death, as the Gloomwulven immediately know of the location of any who explore the darkness.
No torche's light can penetrate the Gloom, though a simple cantrip, elementary to Galathrath, and terrifying to the Humans of the island, was the key to breaching it. Galathrath was able to make the connection and began teaching the island's population how to use it. However, with no basis for magic, the island's population is very unskilled with it, and only a handful manage to successfully use the magic. Those chosen by Galathrath to learn the "mystic art" from him are known as "Lightkeepers". However, the Gloomwulven are not harmed by this light, and it simply allows the Humans to attempt to drive back the Gloom so they can expand. The Gloomwulven have the terrifying ability to mimic the voices of their victims, which they utilize to lure the victims' families and friends toward the dark woods.
