Battle of Prophecy's End

Kingdom battle in 182 KE that culminated in the fulfillment of the Seer's Prophecy. It served as a turning point in Aedrus history, and the return of dragons to the continent of Aedrus.

Background

After a battle between the Forerunners of Prophecy and Ethilendra, Archpriestess of Living Flame caused a feedback loop of magical energy, the Arcane Leylines became visible in the skies over Aedrus. Using the Leylines as a guide, Ethilendra moved quickly to Crux to complete the Seer's Prophecy, stopping at Mount Imix to gather what remained of the subterranean Azer.   Using the Dwaerin to reanimate the corpse of King Snurre, and joined by the remaining Ordi Domani and Theologists--all dedicated in their fervent belief to fulfill the prophecy, Ethilendra barricaded herself in the Ebonglass Cathedral while her army guarded Crux against any who threatened to disrupt the ritual.   At the same time, the Forerunners--guided by Tomas Vencal--moved from the south, raising an army of their own. Rhaelor Sanguinar led the Knights of the Sacred Flame, who allied with treants animated from the Heart of the Forest, and the undead Epinoin Tribe.

Events

In the third month of 182 KE, the two armies engaged at the outer limits of Crux, near dusk. While vastly outnumbered, the Forerunners army managed to pierce deep into the enemy force, allowing the Forerunners to engage King Snurre directly. Upon his defeat, the laval wall encircling Crux fell, and the Forerunners entered the Ebonglass Cathedral.   The arrival of Polaris Te'Laetheriel meant that every aspect of the Seer's Prophecy was present, and Ethilendra attempted to take the Thunderhammer from Mordai by force. While she eventually succeeded, her wounds were fatal--she died unable to complete the prophecy.   Mordicon, Master of Magic completed the prophecy by killing Polaris, activating the three royal bloodlines of Aedrus, and opening a portal to the draconic Lords of the Cycle. By dawn, the dragonflights had entered the Kingdom of Andor.
