Mount Imix

A solitary volcano located in the northern plains of the Kingdom of Andor . The city of Harlequin is built into its southeastern face.

History

For generations, Mount Imix (known to neighboring Harlequins as "the Solitary Giant) was believed to be a mountain. However, the dormant volcano was in fact home to tribe of fiery Azer, led by the diabolical King Snurre, whose tribe worshipped the minor fire god Imix.   In 181, the volcano erupted as Snurre and the Cult of Arc'Tun priestess Ethilendra harnessed Dwaerin, the Living Flame, to release the fire god himself. The eruption threatened to destroy the Kingdom city of Harlequin, but crisis was averted by the Forerunners of Prophecy, who defeated Imix and returned to volcano to its dormancy.

An Azer Fairytale

Once upon a time, deep in the dark, lived Thandonir, the dwarven king. Thandonir was a small king in a small kingdom, but he had big dreams. One day, Thandonir found the dwaerin, a flame that burned with the vitality of life itself. The dwaerin tempted Thandonir with promises of ambition and glory, and the king accepted.   First they burned the mountain hollow, to make their kingdom and reveal its treasures. Then they burned the grung to expand their empire. Then they burned the dwarven clans to remove their enemies. Thandonir had become a mighty king of a mighty empire, but it was not enough. So the dwaerin burned the king’s clothes. He objected, but eventually gave in. Why would he need clothes, since he had the flame to keep him warm?   And the dwaerin burned his beard, for the fire must be fed. The king objected, but eventually gave in. Why would he need a beard? The people knew he was mighty and unrivaled. And finally, the flame consumed the king. He objected, but eventually gave in. For he knew that the fire must be fed. And thus was Imix born.
